Chapter 340:
“I just want to look around,” I replied indifferently, fastening my shirt buttons one at a time with slow precision.
Ethan’s POV
Jeremy let out a long sigh before launching into another lecture. “Ethan, the Voss Group has mountains of work waiting for you, so why are you still so hung up on Lianne? Everyone already thinks you’ve moved on and found a new mate, yet here you are, still refusing to leave her side. You—”
“This is my personal business,” I interrupted coldly, cutting him off without hesitation.
“Fine. Personal business,” Jeremy replied irritably.
Then his tone shifted. “But I should remind you, Brian is on his way to Queen District, too. Looks like he finally figured out Lianne’s there. He’s rushing over now, probably planning to get closer to her.”
I didn’t respond immediately, though my grip around the phone tightened imperceptibly.
“If you ask me, you should give up already,” Jeremy continued. “What’s the point of holding on?”
Silence stretched between us for nearly a full minute before I finally spoke. “Send me everything you have on Brian,” I said slowly. “I want his complete background information.”

“You’re seriously hopeless.” Jeremy sounded both exasperated and resigned.
I knew he wasn’t wrong.
For the past three years, I had forced myself countless times to let go of Lianne and move on. But the moment I saw her again, every bit of that resolve became nothing more than a joke.
Not only had I failed to forget her over the years, I had fallen even deeper for her. As long as Lianne reached for me, even slightly, I would still move toward her instinctively, like metal drawn helplessly to a magnet.
The faint sting on my shoulder lingered, a mark she had left behind.
Closing my eyes, I let out a quiet laugh at myself, the corners of my lips lifting into a self-mocking yet strangely content smile.
Even the pain she gave me felt precious.
Lianne’s POV
While sitting in the taxi on the way back to the hotel, I called Brian.
The second the call connected, his voice exploded through the speaker before I even had the chance to speak. “Lianne! Where are you right now? Are you okay? Who were you with last night? Why weren’t you answering your phone?”
The rapid stream of questions made my pounding headache even worse. Pressing my fingers against my aching temple, I tried to calm him down. “I’m fine,” I said tiredly. “I drank too much last night, and a friend brought me somewhere to rest. My phone died, that’s all.”
“A friend?” Brian immediately pressed. “A man or a woman?” His tone sounded far too aggressive, possessive to the point of suffocating, like a boyfriend trying to monitor every aspect of his girlfriend’s life.
