Chapter 355:
I stared blankly at the ceiling while frustration churned violently inside me. At that moment, I wished dawn would come faster so I could board the earliest flight back and find out the truth about that child myself.
Lianne’s POV
Around noon, Brian’s name lit up my phone screen.
I stared at it for a moment, took a few steadying breaths, and finally picked up. “Brian, what’s up?”
“Lianne, your voice sounds off. Are you sick?” His first words were immediately laced with concern, followed quickly by another question. “Have you found your daughter yet?”
My heart skipped a beat. To avoid suspicion, and to prevent him from offering unnecessary help, I forced myself to lie. “Yes, I found her,” I said quickly. “It was just a misunderstanding. She was at a neighbor’s house, got tired from playing, and fell asleep. I’ll stay with her a few more days. She’s a bit shaken.”
“Alright, focus on your kid,” Brian replied without hesitation. “I’ll handle things at the company.”

Then his tone shifted, carrying a faint, teasing edge. “By the way, you might find this interesting. Jeremy mentioned something about your ex-mate. Ethan has an illegitimate child. The kid even showed up at the Voss Group and caused a scene. And supposedly he looks exactly like Ethan.”
My hand tightened around the phone so hard my fingers went numb.
Illegitimate child. Those words hit me like a blunt strike, leaving my mind momentarily blank.
That was Silas. My son, the child I had given birth to alone in a foreign country, risking everything. And now, in their mouths, he had been reduced to something so careless, so ugly.
And worse, Silas had really gone to the Voss Group.
If he met Ethan, the consequences were unthinkable.
I swallowed the panic rising in my throat and forced my voice to remain steady. “Really?” I asked lightly. “What did Ethan say about it? How is he handling the situation?”
“Who knows,” Brian replied casually. “With rich families, you never know what they’ll do about an illegitimate child. Lianne, you’ve already moved on, so don’t look back. A man with that kind of history isn’t worth your attention.”
After the call ended, my strength gave out completely. I slid down until I was sitting on the floor, my mind spinning.
Silas had really gone to find Ethan. That willful, sharp-witted little boy probably wanted to see with his own eyes what the man who walked out on us really looked like.
I immediately called Frank.
But before I could even speak, Tracy’s anxious voice came through instead. “Lianne, Frank hasn’t slept in days. He just fainted from low blood pressure. Don’t worry, we’re still trying to figure something out.”
“Frank…” My voice broke. “I’m sorry… this is all because of me…”
“I’m fine.” Frank’s weak but steady voice followed. “Listen carefully. Silas is currently with Jeremy, so he’s safe for now. Ethan probably still doesn’t know the child’s identity. I’ll find a way to quietly bring Silas out.”
“But what if he’s exposed?” Panic surged again as I murmured. “If Silas says something in front of Ethan, if he mentions me—”
