Chapter 357:
“That’s insane,” Jeremy said quickly. “She had a miscarriage. You saw the report. It’s impossible.”
My heart skipped violently.
Then a thought surfaced, so sharp it almost hurt.
What if Lianne had lied? What if the miscarriage was never real? Suppose everything she said was just a falsehood, meant to safeguard our child?
My breathing grew uneven as I turned abruptly. “I need the hospital records,” I said, already walking out. “I’m going to find out what was buried three years ago.”
“Ethan, stop!” Jeremy rushed after me. “If you investigate now, you’ll alert whoever’s behind this!”
“I don’t care!” I shoved past him, eyes burning red. “If that child is mine, and I’ve spent three years not knowing, how am I supposed to stay calm?”
I stopped suddenly, turning back with a chilling stare. “Tell me something,” I said slowly. “How did you lose him in the first place? Didn’t you say you would never leave his side?”
Jeremy quickly looked away and rushed to explain, “Ivy called me out of nowhere, saying her heart was giving her trouble and she felt like she was about to die. If she hadn’t said that, there’s no chance in hell I would have left that room, not even for a moment!”
I grabbed him by the collar and lifted him slightly off balance. “Say that again.”

“Ivy… she had an attack,” he repeated, voice breaking. Then realization drained the color from his face. “Ethan… you don’t think she took the child?”
I released him. My expression had already gone cold.
“I’ll find out the truth,” I said, turning away. “Whether Lianne truly miscarried, or whether she hid my child from me.”
An unbearable stillness filled the hospital director’s office.
The Alpha pressure I exuded made the director across from me pale visibly, his hands trembling as he wiped sweat from his brow.
I stared down at the thin stack of medical records in my hand, my grip tightening until the edges crumpled.
“This is everything?” I asked flatly.
“Alpha… yes, that’s everything,” he stammered. “All of Lianne’s records from that period are here. Just minor illnesses, no pregnancy record, no complications, nothing like what you described.”
I crushed the documents in my hand and threw them to the floor.
Fever, cold, this couldn’t possibly be everything. There had to be more.
My Alpha instincts were screaming at me: these records had been altered.
“Bring me the doctor who handled Lianne’s case back then,” I said as I stood, looking down at the director. “I want to hear it from him directly.”
“The doctor… he resigned and went overseas a year ago,” the director explained, wiping sweat from his brow as he handed over a yellowed personnel file. “There’s no way to reach him now. This is all the information we have left. You can look into it. I’m truly not lying.”
The doctor was completely unreachable.
Every lead ended at the exact point I needed answers the most. Coincidences like this didn’t exist.
