Chapter 360:
The two things Ethan could never stand were betrayal and provocation.
What would Ethan do if he discovered that the boy who broke into his system and labeled him a scumbag was actually his own son?
He’d take Silas from me, throw me back into that dark, sunless prison, and utterly destroy the quiet life we had built.
“We need to leave,” I said sharply, turning back inside. “Tracy, pack everything and get Ruby. Frank, get us on the first flight out of here. I don’t care about the destination, just as long as it takes us beyond this territory!”
Frank frowned. “Lianne, take it easy. It’s the middle of the night…”
Lianne’s POV
“There’s no way I can calm down!” I snapped, my eyes burning red with panic. “Ethan’s coming after us. I know he is. He’s tearing everything apart trying to find us! I can’t let him take Silas away from me. I won’t survive that!”
Frank studied me quietly before releasing a tired breath. His hands settled firmly on my shoulders. “Then I’ll leave with you. I still know people abroad. We can disappear into Northern Obrinope, or someplace even farther where Ethan won’t reach us.”
Guilt twisted painfully inside me. Slowly, I removed his hands from me.

“No, Frank. You can’t follow us.” I forced myself to stay calm despite the chaos in my chest. “You’ve sacrificed enough for me these past few years. To me, you and Tracy are family already, and that’s exactly why I can’t drag you deeper into this mess. There’s no possibility for us to be together. I don’t want your entire future tied to someone who can never return what you’ve given.”
For a brief second, the moonlight exposed the hurt that crossed his face.
“Lianne, none of that matters to me.” A faint, helpless smile touched his lips, though his voice remained steady. “I’m not helping because I expect something back. I’m not doing this to make you love me either. I just want you and the kids safe. That’s enough for me.”
“But I can’t be that selfish!” I turned away quickly, unable to endure the sincerity in his eyes. “Stop treating me like this, Frank. I don’t deserve it. You should be living your own life, not running around with a woman who’s constantly escaping danger with two children in tow.”
“That choice belongs to me.” He stepped closer instead of retreating, his hand landing gently against my shoulder again. “We don’t have time to fight about this. Pack what you need. I’ll drive you to a private airfield.”
I stared at him helplessly, knowing there was no changing his mind.
That beautiful face everyone admired on magazine covers now carried nothing except unwavering devotion. It hurt to look at him. I swallowed hard, forcing myself to stay cruel, and pushed his hands away once more.
