Chapter 368:
“Or maybe…” I let out a hollow laugh, my gaze darkening with obsession. “Maybe I should stop pretending to be the gentleman. I’ll use whatever means necessary to keep her beside me. Lock her up. Chain her to my bed so she can’t leave, so the only person she can look at is me. Would she hate me even more for that?”
I was tired of waiting.
All I wanted now was to get Lianne back to my side, by any means necessary.
Lianne’s POV

The moment the call ended, all the strength seemed to leave my body. I collapsed onto the bench, exhausted to the core as the cold wind slipped through my thin clothes, making me tremble.
Every cruel word I had said to Ethan felt like a blade stabbing back into my own chest.
I knew I had hurt him. I knew someone like Ethan, a powerful Alpha who had never once been rejected or humiliated, would probably be furious enough to lose control.
But I had no choice.
Between us stood far more than just three missing years. There was Ivy’s manipulation, the safety of the children, and the marriage bond he was preparing to enter.
I couldn’t allow him even the smallest hope.
My phone screen flickered weakly twice, warning that the battery was nearly dead.
At that moment, Frank’s name flashed across the screen.
“Lianne, where are you?” His voice was frantic, strained tight with worry. “What did Ethan say?”
“He doesn’t suspect anything.” I shut my eyes, my throat painfully hoarse. “Frank, I’m alright. I just… want to be alone for a little while.”
“You can’t lie to me.” Frank let out a quiet sigh. “Lianne, you spend your whole life living for everyone else, for the children, for the truth, even hurting yourself just so you won’t hurt him. Can’t you, for once, put yourself first?”
Bitterness spread through me like a tide.
In the werewolf world, once someone was claimed, once the blood bond took root, you couldn’t really put yourself first, not with everything else going on.
“Look to your right,” Frank suddenly murmured.
Startled, I turned my head. Under the dim yellow glow of the streetlamp sat a black SUV parked silently by the curb.
Frank leaned against the driver’s door, watching me quietly from a distance.
I would be lying if I said my heart didn’t waver at that moment.
In this world, aside from Tracy, he was probably the only person who cared for me so selflessly. And I truly was moved. But no matter how much warmth he gave me, I still couldn’t return the feelings he wanted from me.
“I already took Tracy and the kids somewhere safe,” Frank said as he walked over, draping his jacket around my shoulders. It carried the faint smell of tobacco and rain. “I’ve been waiting for you. Come on, I found a quiet hotel.”
I followed him into the car. The drive passed in silence.
At the hotel, Frank handled everything carefully, as though afraid I might shatter at any second.
Before leaving, he paused at the doorway and looked at me deeply, as if there were countless things he wanted to say. But in the end, he only whispered, “Good night. Try to sleep. We leave early tomorrow.”
