Chapter 374:
I didn’t want to go inside. I didn’t want to sit alone in that lifeless room with my thoughts swallowing me whole.
Frank seemed to understand immediately. He quietly walked to the end of the hallway and brought back two folding chairs. Then he sat beside me outside my room in silence, like he planned to stay there all night if necessary.
I closed my eyes as tears slid soundlessly down my cheeks.
Frank silently handed me tissues one after another, staying beside me like some patient guardian who refused to leave.
“I can’t accept it…” I whispered hoarsely, clutching painfully at my chest. The ache there felt unbearable, like something vital had been torn out of me by force. “I thought I could let him go. I thought I could wish him happiness, wish him and his new mate a happy life together…”

My voice cracked completely. “But every time I think about those marks on his shoulder… every time I imagine him holding another woman the way he used to hold me…” I lowered my head, tears falling endlessly into my lap. “I just want to die.”
There were too many things crushing me. Silas’s true identity. Ivy’s schemes. The bond I could never truly escape.
All of it wrapped around me like chains, dragging me deeper and deeper until I couldn’t move forward at all.
I slowly lifted my reddened eyes toward Frank. “I’m not drunk, Frank,” I whispered weakly. “My mind has never been clearer.”
A bitter laugh escaped my lips as I pushed away the glass of water he offered me.
Frank sighed softly before standing up. He said he was going downstairs to the convenience store to buy a few things.
After he left, I curled up alone in the folding chair, staring blankly at the dim corridor lights. The alcohol slowed my body, but my thoughts had never been sharper.
At that moment, my phone suddenly vibrated in my pocket.
It was Brian.
“Lianne! Where are you?” The instant I answered, Brian’s furious voice exploded through the phone, tangled with obvious panic. “Jeremy just called me. He said he saw you entering a hotel with another man! Who is he? Did you come back here just to sleep with someone else?”
His shouting sobered me halfway instantly. I frowned, exhaustion washing over me as I answered coldly, “He’s my friend. He was only helping me back to the hotel. Calm down, Brian.”
“Friend?” Brian laughed in disbelief. “What kind of friend has to hold you like that while bringing you into a hotel?”
His tone became increasingly suffocating, thick with possessiveness. “What room are you in? I’ll ask one of my female friends to come stay with you tonight. I don’t trust you being alone with that man.”
“That won’t be necessary.” I cut him off immediately, irritation rising inside me without restraint.
“Lianne!” Brian’s voice sharpened anxiously. “I’m worried about you. Do you realize Ethan has people everywhere in this city? If he finds out where you are—”
“Brian.” I interrupted him coldly this time. “Don’t overstep.”
