Chapter 383:
“What did you just say?” I fixed my eyes on her, my stare sharp and unwavering.
The cold white lights outside the emergency room cast a harsh glow over us while Ivy hurriedly tried to explain herself.
“Ethan, please, you have to trust me. That child really is mine. Jeremy found out about it and was on his way to tell you before the accident happened. I didn’t tell his parents immediately because I was scared they would blame me…” Her body shook uncontrollably as tears streamed down her face. Her voice filled with panic and desperation.
I watched her little performance in silence, my expression completely cold.
I did not believe a single thing coming out of her mouth. Not one word.

But Jeremy’s unfinished sentence before the call disconnected suddenly popped up in my mind.
He had mentioned Ivy. And his voice had carried an unmistakable warning.
If Silas really belonged to her, then fate had a sick sense of humor.
“Ivy, the only reason you’re still standing here unharmed is because you once saved my life.” I stepped closer without warning and lowered my head near her ear. I growled, “But don’t mistake that favor for endless protection. Push me again, and I’ll make you understand what true hell feels like.”
The color disappeared from Ivy’s face immediately and her eyes flashed with crazed desperation.
“You think this is unbelievable? Then who do you think stayed with you three years ago when you got drunk out of your mind?” She suddenly burst into laughter, her voice dripping with venom. “You thought it was Lianne? No. She ran overseas with Frank! I was the one who spent that night in the suite with you! I kept quiet because I knew that if you found out, you would make me get rid of the baby because of her!”
“Shut up!” My hand shot out and clamped around her jaw with brutal force, hard enough to crush her bones.
“What? You can’t handle the truth?” Even through the pain, her smile only grew more twisted. “Ethan, you’re still obsessed with her, aren’t you? Do you know how happy she is overseas with Frank right now? Only I truly love you. I was the one who gave you a child!”
“I said shut up!” I hurled her away violently.
I refused to hear Lianne’s name from Ivy’s mouth. I refused to hear her talk about Lianne being with another man.
The rage inside me would send me over the edge and make me want to smash everything around me to pieces.
“Figure out yourself how you’re going to explain this to Jeremy’s family.” I turned away, unwilling to even look at her again. “And if Jeremy doesn’t wake up, you’d better pray you can disappear before they find you.”
I stayed at the hospital the entire night.
By dawn the next morning, the surgery was finally over.
The doctor walked out slowly, removing his mask. He seemed very exhausted.
He looked at me like he wanted to say something, then let out a long, heavy sigh.
