Chapter 390:
Noah nodded with dawning understanding and dropped the subject.
Just as the car was about to merge onto the main road, I suddenly recalled something else and said, “I need you to handle something.”
My long fingers drummed lightly against the seat. “Acquire Nexith Group.”
Noah slammed on the brakes and twisted around, his face full of confusion. “Nexith Group? That rising investment firm? But that’s not even in our current business lane. Wouldn’t acquiring them right now be too premature?”

“It’s not premature.” I gave him a calm glance, my voice brooking no opposition. “Once we acquire them, no layoffs. I want every employee retained, particularly the mid-level and senior staff. Every single one.”
Noah went still for a long moment, his thoughts churning. He had likely just pieced together the connection between Nexith Group and a particular name.
“Is this because of… Brian?” he asked cautiously.
“I don’t like him.” I admitted it outright, a fierce flash of possessiveness blazing in my eyes. “He’s pursuing Lianne. Since he appears to have so much free time on his hands, I’ll give him something to occupy it. Once he becomes the head of a subsidiary under Voss Group, he’ll be required to report every single detail of his schedule to me.”
Ethan’s POV
I pictured Brian’s face the moment he realized his romantic rival wasn’t just competition anymore, but his boss. The thought alone took the edge off the irritation that had been coiling in my chest for days.
Noah, on the other hand, was so stunned that his jaw stayed open for a long moment.
He clearly hadn’t expected me to throw billions at acquiring an entire conglomerate over something so personal. It was a textbook case of business strategy getting tangled with private grudges.
“So… does that mean Nexith Group’s top talent gets moved into Voss Group headquarters?” Noah asked lightly, a teasing curve in his voice.
“Yeah.” I raised an eyebrow, thinking of Lianne busy in her office. “Bring the core team closer. I want them where I can watch them.”
Noah started the car, glancing at me with renewed energy. “Ethan… have you finally figured it out? You planning to bring her back and keep her right beside you?”
“I’m talking about operations,” I cut in flatly, shutting him down before he could dig deeper, before he could hear what I didn’t want to admit. That sharp, possessive instinct that bristled at the idea of anyone else getting too close to Lianne.
It wasn’t about possession. It was about control. About removing anything, and anyone, that didn’t belong around her.
Once Nexith Group was under my control and Brian was gone for good, there would be nowhere left for her to run anyway.
She wouldn’t be able to disappear from me.
Night had fallen over Thorn Pack territory.
I stood in the middle of the living room, staring at the silent villa before flipping on the master lights.
