Chapter 395:
I lowered the phone and sank into my chair, too drained to hold myself upright. A crushing sense of helplessness washed over me.
Ethan hadn’t done this for business. This was never about corporate expansion.
He was hunting.
Like a patient Alpha wolf stalking prey through the dark, he was closing in on me, sealing off every possible way out. Buying Nexith Group had never been about expanding his business empire. It was about putting me where he could see me and control me. He wanted to keep me under his watch with nowhere left to run.
What exactly was he planning?
Lianne’s POV
Brian assured me that he would spare no effort in standing against the Voss Group.
“You intend to go up against the Voss Group? You’re not going to win this, Brian. Honestly, it’s not worth it. Take my word for it. Don’t throw your energy away.”
I tightened my grip on the phone, my brows drawn together, my voice heavy with exhausted resignation.

On the other end, Brian was livid, practically yelling that he refused to accept being crushed by Ethan. He insisted he would gather other investors to fight back.
But I knew Ethan all too well.
Inside Thorn Pack’s borders, he ruled as an unquestioned monarch. In the corporate arena, he was a ruthless titan, capable of transforming the landscape of the industry with one decisive move.
Nexith Group may have carried some weight in the industry, but next to the Voss Group, it was nothing more than a flimsy rowboat staring down a massive warship.
If Ethan really set his mind to crushing Nexith Group, even if every domestic business abandoned him under duress, the loss to him would be nothing more than a tiny sliver of the local market.
And the truth was, nobody would dare cross the Voss Group, a behemoth that could bend the global economy to its will, just to back a man like Brian.
“He’s coming after you, Lianne! This is his way of shaming me, and also pressuring you!” Brian’s voice trembled with anger.
My chest tightened, a cold sensation spreading to my fingertips.
Of course, I knew Ethan was coming after me.
But what terrified me more was the possibility that he had already uncovered Silas’s existence and was deliberately using this situation as bait to draw me out, forcing me to walk into the carefully prepared trap.
In my recollection, Ethan had always been a refined man, logical and composed, favoring the most graceful methods when dealing with opponents.
Yet this time, his reckless takeover of Nexith Group, his unchecked spending in what looked like an almost suicidal expansion, was entirely out of character.
What was his intention? Was he trying to imprison me beside him and make me suffer? Or had he already prepared the testing equipment, waiting for me to fall into his trap so he could confirm Silas’s true parentage?
That thought made my heart race in fear. I quickly ended the call with Brian.
I couldn’t afford to remain still and wait for calamity.
