Chapter 413:
Only then did I realize Ethan’s decision to bring me back to the Voss Group had been a carefully planned trap from the very beginning.
He didn’t have the patience to wait even one day. The moment I came back, he was already forcing me here to face Silas.
He was waiting for me to make a mistake.
I took a deep breath, forcing myself to suppress the chaos inside.
By now, all I could do was hope that my Silas was clever enough not to slip up in front of Ethan.
“You don’t seem surprised at all to hear that I have a son,” Ethan suddenly said, breaking the silence.
I willed myself to turn and meet his deep, impenetrable gaze, then gave a stiff smile. “Given your status and influence, there’s no woman you couldn’t have. Three years have passed since we split. Finding another mate and having a child is perfectly natural. It seems you’ve achieved exactly what you desired. My congratulations.”

“Exactly what I desired?” he repeated, his tone carrying a faint trace of self-mockery.
I had no intention of continuing this conversation.
Just the thought that he might already have a new mate, and the memory of the bite mark I once saw on his shoulder, filled my chest with a slow, lingering ache.
“If this is supposed to be a business meeting, why are we at your place?” I snapped, purposefully changing the subject. “If you just want to parade your happy family life in front of me, spare yourself the trouble. I have work to do. I still haven’t finished reviewing the mall project paperwork.”
Ethan said nothing. He simply withdrew his gaze and stepped harder on the accelerator.
The car sped through the mansion’s gates.
When it finally stopped, Ethan walked around and opened the door for me.
“Come inside for lunch,” he said. His tone was not an invitation, it was an order.
“That’s crossing a line,” I said, clutching my bag tightly while standing beside the car. “Alpha, we’ve both moved on to new mates. If this becomes public, it will harm your image and also create unnecessary difficulties for my mate.”
“Your mate?” Ethan’s expression twisted slightly, as though the words alone irritated him. He leaned in a little, his striking face closing in on mine. “Precisely because we both have new mates, there’s nothing to worry about, is there? Or is there something you are hiding? Something you are afraid I might find out once you step through that door?”
His words left me speechless. I froze in place.
At that moment, my phone began vibrating violently inside my bag. I glanced down and saw the name “Frank” flashing across the screen.
Ethan’s eyes flicked to my phone screen, sharp and cold. His icy expression darkened at once.
Immediately, I picked up the phone and moved aside to answer it.
“Frank,” I said, intentionally sweetening my voice and adding warmth to it. “Yeah, I’m tied up at the moment. Don’t worry. Can you come get me tonight? I want to go home early to see Ruby.”
