Chapter 420:
“You have my word. I’ll never tell your mom any of this, it stays between us.” I squeezed Silas’s little hand hard, applying much more pressure than I meant to.
“Then tonight, you have to teach me virtual programming and take me to the combat training grounds.” Silas immediately bargained, taking advantage of the moment.
“Fine. I will,” I agreed without a second thought, even though the tempest inside my chest was becoming harder and harder to control.
I abruptly pulled the car over to the roadside, my hands shaking so badly I could barely keep hold of the steering wheel.
So all these years, Lianne, the woman who had decisively broken our mate bond and disappeared from my life, had secretly given birth to my children.

She had spent three years wandering overseas, raising them entirely on her own.
I was such a bastard. Lianne had suffered through all of that alone while I knew nothing.
Lianne’s POV
I sat at my desk, fingers moving rapidly across the keyboard.
I had no idea Ethan had already uncovered the truth from Silas. My entire focus was on finishing the files in front of me as quickly as possible.
At long last, I was done.
I practically shot out of my chair, grabbed the bag containing the encrypted hard drive, and rushed out of the office without looking back.
Outside the company building, Frank’s black SUV was already waiting by the curb.
Leaning casually against the car door, he immediately smiled and waved the moment he saw me.
For the first time all day, the tension in my chest eased slightly.
I quickened my pace toward him. As long as I got into that car, I could breathe easier and drop the act, even if it was only temporary.
But just as my fingers were about to touch the door handle, an overwhelming wave of oppressive Alpha energy crashed down from behind me.
A large, calloused hand burning with heat suddenly gripped my shoulder.
I froze instantly.
I did not even need to turn around. That cold, domineering presence already told me exactly who it was.
“I told you, you’re staying late tonight. You’re not allowed to leave unless I say so.” Ethan’s voice fell coldly above my head, firm and absolute.
I took a slow breath before turning sharply to face him, meeting those deep, unreadable eyes.
His gaze churned with something terrifying, a madness I could not understand, like a volcano suppressed for years that was finally on the verge of erupting.
“Alpha, it’s already after work hours. I have the right to refuse unreasonable overtime.” I straightened my back, my voice firm. “Let go of me. My mate is waiting.”
“Mate?” Ethan’s lips twisted into a chilly smile, and his hold on my shoulder grew firmer. “I told you, you’re staying here tonight. And there’s no way you’re leaving with him.”
“You’re insane!” I struggled desperately, trying to break free.
By then, Frank was already walking toward us, his expression dark with anger. “Sir, release my mate.”
As Frank approached, Ethan’s eyes turned dangerous.
