Chapter 424:
Lianne’s POV
My heart ached.
“I know.” I dropped my eyes, hiding the fear running through me. “Right now, the only thing I can do is keep Ethan stable and find a way to get away from him for good. You should leave first. Don’t let him pay attention to you again.”
After some hesitation, Frank finally gave in. He studied me for a long moment, looking deeply concerned, then let out a helpless sigh, started the car, and drove away. I watched until the car disappeared around the corner.
Only then did I turn and head back toward the man waiting beneath the streetlamp.
A cigarette rested between Ethan’s fingers, its tip glowing faintly as wisps of smoke drifted into the night air.
The redness from my slap had somewhat faded, and the small cuts on his lip, where I had bitten him, had stopped bleeding, leaving behind dried traces of blood. Under the soft yellow light, his slightly disheveled appearance carried a strangely captivating charm.

His eyes never left me. The moment he saw me approaching, a faint smile appeared on his lips.
Suppressing my emotions, I walked over and spoke in a detached voice. “Let’s go.”
After taking a few steps, I noticed the red mark at the corner of his mouth. I paused, then reached into my bag and pulled out a wet wipe, which I held out to him. “Clean that up. If you go home looking like that, what will Silas think?”
Ethan glanced at the wipe but made no move to take it.
Instead, he chuckled softly. “No need. I actually like the mark you left on me.”
He leaned in and spoke in a low, flirtatious tone. “Lianne, honestly, I wish you had bitten harder earlier. Maybe then you would have left something permanent. Something I would carry for the rest of my life.”
“You’re insane!” I shot back, shaking with rage.
“Yeah, I am.” He admitted it without hesitation, his gaze locked onto mine. “For the last three years, I’ve felt myself going crazy. Sometimes I even wonder whether, before you left, you found some evil witch and had her cast a spell on me. One that can never be broken.”
I let out a mocking laugh and looked away. “If I really knew a witch, the first thing I would ask for would be a spell that kept you out of my life forever. And if you try anything inappropriate again, a bite won’t be the only thing you get.”
The threat was empty, but saying it gave me a small sense of control.
Ethan stopped walking toward the car. Slowly, he turned to face me, and a strange light flickered in his dark eyes.
“Really?” His voice rose slightly, carrying an unsettling mix of excitement and danger.
I suddenly found myself speechless. He looked as though he was looking forward to this so-called punishment. For some reason, my heart skipped a beat.
