Chapter 427:
Ethan’s POV
The supermarket’s fluorescent lighting felt somewhat glaring, but my focus remained entirely on Lianne’s slightly chilled hand resting in mine.
Her hands were beautiful, delicate, and well-shaped, yet noticeably slimmer than they had been three years earlier.
I couldn’t bring myself to dwell on how she had survived these past three years, raising two children on her own in a foreign land.
As an unmated Omega caring for two children who carried the bloodline of a top-tier Alpha, she must have faced hardships that would have been enough to crush even the most resilient person.

“The only reason my hands are cold is because you’re irritating me,” she shot back, attempting to pull free. But I just tightened my grip.
Staring down at her, I found myself unable to suppress the faint smile forming at the corners of my mouth.
I didn’t bother arguing. As long as I could keep holding her hand, she could scold me all she liked.
If she would just stay with me, even with all her sharp edges, I’d accept her no matter what.
After we finished shopping and reached the checkout counter, she seized the opportunity while I was taking out my card and yanked her hand away as though she’d touched fire.
The moment we returned to the car, she refused to sit in the passenger seat. Instead, she opened the rear door and climbed into the back, using the thick seat as a shield between us.
A faint ache settled in my chest, but I kept silent. I started the engine and drove steadily toward home.
The cabin remained silent, filled only with the rhythm of our breathing.
Through the rearview mirror, I stole a glance at her. She was looking out at the night beyond the window, her profile illuminated by the dim glow of passing streetlights, a trace of sadness lingering on her face.
I wondered how much longer she planned to hide the truth about our children from me.
When we reached the mansion, Silas was already standing at the entrance, waiting.
The little boy was dressed in a dark blue lounge set. The moment he saw us stepping out of the car together, he paused in surprise.
For a brief moment, silence hung in the air at the entrance.
I was the first to speak, walking over and tousling Silas’s soft hair. My voice was quiet and gentle. “Silas, make sure you keep Lianne company. I’ll go prepare dinner.”
I intentionally stressed the words “keep Lianne company,” giving him a meaningful glance.
As soon as I headed toward the kitchen, Silas hurried after me.
He moved quickly, shutting the kitchen door and even turning the deadbolt lock.
Rushing over to me, he lowered his voice, sounding full of grievances. “Daddy, have you lost your mind? What made you bring Mommy back again? She’s already suspicious! What if she decides to take me away right now?”
I continued cleaning the fish with practiced ease, my movements smooth and efficient, and cast a sideways glance at Silas, who was nearly bouncing with nervousness.
