Chapter 436:
“Oh, right.” He sounded as though he had suddenly remembered something. “When I bought candy for that little girl, her mother gave me a business card. But I was busy at the time and shoved it into my suit pocket without paying attention to it. I’ll ask Noah to look for it later. If I can get in touch with her, I’d like to invite that little girl to stay at my place for a few days.”
His eyes softened slightly as he spoke. “She’s incredibly adorable. Maybe she would even become good friends with Silas.”
I choked on my saliva and broke into a violent coughing fit. My face instantly turned bright red, and my eyes welled up with tears.
I never saw this coming!
The man who had bought Ruby candy that day had actually been Ethan!
They had crossed paths long ago.
And I hadn’t known a thing about it. All this time, I had foolishly believed Ruby had only run into a nice stranger.
My body felt restless, and I was unable to relax for even a second. Cold sweat dampened my palms.
At that moment, all I could do was hope. Hope that Ethan had brought it up casually and had no real suspicions. Hope that the suit he wore that day had already been washed. Or, better yet, that the business card had been thrown away long ago.
“Are you alright?” Ethan passed me a tissue, the corners of his lips curling into an amused smile.

“I’m fine.” I grabbed the tissue from his hand and quickly wiped my mouth. I couldn’t stay there another second. “I’m done eating. Ethan, when can I leave? You promised you would let me go after breakfast.”
Ethan rose from his seat and calmly straightened his cuffs. Looking down at me, he carried a commanding presence. “That depends on how you behave,” he replied evenly. “Behave yourself at work today, and I might let you leave on time.”
Damn it. Another one of his vague answers, hiding a threat underneath.
After breakfast, I had no option but to get into his car.
Throughout the drive, my thoughts remained in complete chaos. Every word from our conversation replayed over and over in my head.
Ruby, the business card, Silas… The fragments kept circling through my mind, slowly connecting into a possibility that filled me with dread.
By the time the car entered the underground parking lot of Voss Group and came to a stop, my nerves were stretched to the limit. The moment the engine turned off, I reached for the door handle, eager to escape the suffocating atmosphere. Just then, my phone began vibrating inside my bag.
Lianne’s POV
The moment I saw Frank’s name on the screen, my heart skipped a beat.
At this time of day, he would never call unless something serious had happened.
My fingers shook as I answered. Before I could even speak, Frank’s panicked voice came through the line. “Lianne! Something terrible has happened! Tracy is missing!”
For a moment, my mind went blank. “What happened? What do you mean she’s missing?”
