Chapter 460:
“The witches performed a forbidden ritual to preserve the Alpha’s life, placing him into a deep sleep,” the warrior replied without a trace of emotion. “Thirty minutes ago, the elders secretly arranged for him to be transferred to the witches’ territory. It was his last shot at survival.”
“They took him away?” Drawing on the last shreds of strength I possessed, I crawled forward through the mud. My voice trembled violently. “Where did they take him? Please… tell me where he is.”
The warrior lowered his gaze to me. There was no compassion in his eyes, only cold impatience.
“This matter is among the Thorn Pack’s most closely guarded secrets. You are not entitled to know,” he replied icily. “The elders have commanded that you cease your vigil here. As of now, the Alpha’s well-being is no longer any of your concern.”
Without another word, he turned and disappeared into the pale morning mist.
I collapsed into the mud. My fingers dug desperately into the cold, soaked earth as pain ripped through my chest so fiercely that breathing became difficult.
I had spent the whole night waiting.

I kept telling myself that if I stayed long enough, I would hear good news. I believed that if I prayed hard enough, the Moon Goddess would return him to me.
But in the end, that was only wishful thinking.
Ethan was already gone.
Just when I felt most powerless, the very elders who despised me more than anyone had taken him away.
They didn’t even grant me the chance to say farewell. I wasn’t given the chance to see him one last time. Not even the right to know whether he was still breathing.
“Ethan…” Lifting my face to the overcast sky, I unleashed a desperate, heart-wrenching scream.
The warrior’s figure had already disappeared completely into the thick fog.
I remained sitting in the mud, my entire body numb with cold. My eyes were vacant as I stared blankly into the distance.
The rain-soaked Darkroot Forest was unnaturally quiet, weighed down by an atmosphere of despair, as though even the air around me was mocking my helplessness.
Suddenly, an idea struck me.
I murmured, “No… there’s still something I can do…”
I could go find Noah. He was Ethan’s most trusted right-hand man. He had to know exactly where the elders had taken Ethan in the Nersard Isles.
“Frank! Find Noah… please, find Noah!” I grabbed hold of Frank’s sleeve, my voice trembling with desperation. “He has to know… please, help me reach him. I have to find out where Ethan is!”
“Lianne, please calm down!” Frank knelt down and took hold of my shaking shoulders with a firm grip. His eyes were full of pain and concern. “Just look at yourself! You’ve had a raging fever all night long. If you don’t get those wounds treated soon, they’ll become infected! Come back with me, put on some dry clothes, and get some rest first. Once you’re better, we’ll go find him. All right?”
“I can’t wait any longer!” I shouted, pushing Frank back, only to fall hard into the mud again as my strength gave out completely.
Muddy water splashed across my face, icy and bitter.
