Chapter 469:
My shoulders finally gave out. I slumped in my wheelchair as the tension I had been carrying for days unraveled all at once.
Tears fell freely now, soaking into my clothes.
As long as he was alive, that was enough. Even if he never saw me again, even if I could only exist at a distance, watching from afar, that would be fine.
I turned my wheelchair slightly, preparing to move aside.
But before I could, a sharp voice cut through the wind, laced with venom and hatred.
“So you actually had the audacity to follow him all the way here, Lianne. You’re like a stubborn shadow that just won’t fade away!”
I froze. Slowly, I turned my head.
Evelyn stood behind the iron gates, dressed in a black coat and heels, her gaze burning with open hostility.
Lianne’s POV:
Evelyn’s stare was icy and piercing.
She tilted her chin ever so slightly, signaling the two broad-shouldered warriors standing beside her.

Without a word, they strode toward me, their imposing frames radiating intimidating pressure.
Seated helplessly in my wheelchair, I tightened my grip on the armrests until my knuckles turned white.
Instinctively, I tried to back away, but the wheels struggled against the snow-covered ground.
I was alone in a foreign country, cut off from everyone I knew. My battered body didn’t even have the strength to stand.
If Evelyn wanted to crush me, it would be no more difficult than stepping on an insect.
“Do you really think following us all the way here will somehow wash away your sins?” Evelyn stepped forward suddenly, her crimson eyes blazing with fury. “Look at what the Thorn Pack has become! Look at Ethan, lying inside, barely holding on to life! This happened because of you! You shattered the peace our pack spent generations building and turned Ethan into a lunatic willing to sacrifice everything for you!”
She bent closer, her beautiful features twisted by hatred, and lowered her voice into a venomous whisper sharp enough to cut flesh. “I never liked you, Lianne. The only reason I ever showed restraint in front of Rola was because Ethan cherished you. But now that he’s fallen, what exactly do you think you still have to rely on?”
There was nowhere for me to escape. Like prey cornered by hunters, I could only endure the malice crashing down around me.
My voice came out hoarse and shaky beneath the freezing wind. “I just want to see Ethan.”
“See him? In your dreams!” Evelyn shrilled, lifting her hand to signal the warriors forward.
“That’s enough.” A deep, authoritative voice rang out from the hospital entrance.
Adrian stepped out, dressed in a charcoal-gray cashmere coat, his movements calm and measured.
The moment his gaze landed on me, frail, exhausted, and confined to a wheelchair, a flicker of surprise crossed his face.
Clearly, he hadn’t expected me to uncover the location of this heavily guarded facility.
