Chapter 480:
Yet just as he was about to step through the door, he hesitated, then glanced back at me with a troubled look. “There’s one more thing. Rola and the elders… they’ve been acting strangely. They’ve permitted Lianne to remain in Thiynia and look after you. They’ve even given her top-level security clearance. At first, I thought they were finally starting to accept her…”
A cold laugh escaped me, and a dangerous gleam flashed through my eyes.
I understood those old men in the Thorn Pack better than anyone. For them, bloodlines and personal gain always took priority.
In their eyes, Lianne was the one who had nearly gotten me killed. They would never accept her. That meant Lianne was undoubtedly hiding something from me.
I clenched my fists so hard that my nails bit into my palms, my mind racing over what kind of deal she might have struck with those cunning old men.
Whatever it was, whatever price she had paid, now that she had returned to my side, I silently swore I would never let her leave again.
Lianne’s POV:
The evening twilight hung low over Thiynia, casting a heavy gray hue across the endless snowy landscape.
Tracy pushed my wheelchair as we headed toward the hospital’s back garden.
The air there was colder than inside the ward, but it was also cleaner, carrying a crispness that seemed capable of clearing the fog clouding my thoughts.
At the heart of the garden stretched a vast bed of moonflowers. These mystical blossoms grew only on the Nersard Isles, their white petals glowing faintly with silver light beneath the rising moon.

They possessed the ability to calm troubled souls and speed healing.
“Tracy, stop right here,” I said quietly, nodding toward the cluster of flowers swaying softly in the wind. “I’d like to pick some to bring back. The witch said their fragrance might help speed up Ethan’s recovery. I want him to get better soon.”
Lianne’s POV:
Tracy stopped where I asked and crouched to smooth the cashmere blanket draped over my knees.
The evening breeze carried a faint, refreshing fragrance, but the look on her face suggested something was weighing on her mind. She opened her mouth several times, only to stop herself.
After a long pause, she sighed and pulled her phone from her pocket. “Lianne, when you get a chance, you should reply to Frank. He’s been stuck at Thiynia’s border this whole time and can’t get in. Honestly, he’s worried himself half to death.”
At the mention of Frank, my fingers trembled instinctively. A flower petal snapped beneath my touch and drifted silently to the ground.
“I’m not sure what to even say to him,” I whispered, my gaze falling as a wave of guilt washed over me.
Frank had always loved me with a quiet, steady tenderness, silently staying by my side, never once demanding anything in return.
Throughout the bleakest and most despairing years of my life, he had stood by me like a quiet guardian.
Again and again, I turned him away, making it clear there was no room for anyone else in my heart. Yet he never pressured me. Instead, he continued shielding me without a single complaint.
That kind of love was simply too much to carry. So much that I didn’t know how to face him.
