Chapter 485:
But what stunned me most was the total absence of onions in every dish.
After all these years, Ethan still remembered every little food preference and restriction I had.
My nose stung. He was lying injured in bed, and somehow he was still putting me before himself.
“Ethan, you really don’t have to do all this…” I lowered my head. My voice caught as I added, “I can’t do much for you.”
He chuckled softly, then stretched his other hand toward me.
But he moved too quickly, pulling at the deep wound that ran through his chest.
He groaned through clenched teeth. His brows furrowed immediately, and the color drained from his face.

“Don’t move!” Fear surged through me. I dropped the food containers, leaned forward, and grabbed his hand tightly. My voice shook uncontrollably as I asked, “Did you tear your wound open? I’ll get Melisa right now!”
Lianne’s POV:
Ethan closed his fingers around my hand and pulled me closer.
Even though cold sweat covered his forehead from the pain, he still looked amused. “Why are you this bothered? Looks like I still matter to you after all.”
“You still have the energy to joke around?” I shot him an annoyed look, refusing to admit the truth. “I’m only worried you’ll take forever to recover and delay my trip home.”
“You always put up a tough front,” he teased, his gaze locking onto mine.
The look in his eyes made my heart race. I tried to pull my hand away so I could eat, but he refused to let go, holding on stubbornly.
“Let go. The food will get cold.” I gave him a light push, feeling flustered.
“No.” Like a stubborn child, he tightened his grip. “I only learned how to be clingy because of you. If I don’t hold on tightly enough, you’ll disappear again before I know it. Lianne… I’m afraid.”
My heart softened instantly. I let out a helpless sigh and coaxed him gently, “I’m not leaving. I’ll stay here in the hospital with you tonight. I won’t go anywhere, okay?”
I expected him to be pleased by my promise. But the expression on his face turned strangely complicated.
His eyes darkened slightly, and he swallowed hard, as though he wanted to say something but was hesitant.
“What?” I asked in confusion. “You don’t want me staying here?”
After a brief silence, I noticed his ears flush.
“The wound on my chest isn’t that serious anymore,” he said, his voice turning rougher. “But I’m still a man. When the woman I love is this close… Lianne, in my state, it’s hard to control myself. If you stay here, you won’t be taking care of me. You’ll be torturing me.”
I froze, and my mind instantly went blank.
What I saw in his eyes was desire, raw and uncontainable.
I felt embarrassment, panic, and nervousness all at once.
Before I could stop myself, I blurted out something stupid: “Then should I ask Jeremy to find a she-wolf to give you some relief?”
