Chapter 487

Chapter 487:
“I saw the bite marks on your shoulder, Ethan.” I met his gaze directly, a bitter smile tugging at my lips. “There’s no way you made those yourself. If you already had someone back then, why pretend to be so devoted to me now?”
The room went completely still.
I stared at him, waiting, for an explanation, or for him to get angry and throw me out.
But Ethan looked at me for a long moment and did something I never expected. He burst into laughter.
Lianne’s POV:
At first, Ethan merely let out a soft chuckle, but before long, his entire body was shaking with laughter.
The movement tugged at the wound in his chest, draining the color from his face and bringing a sheen of cold sweat to his forehead. Even so, he seemed completely incapable of stopping, laughing so hard that tears gathered at the corners of his eyes.
“What exactly are you laughing at?” I demanded, trembling with anger as I glared at him through reddened eyes. “Do you enjoy watching me torment myself like an idiot? Or are your affairs with other women really something you’re proud of?”
The sight of his utterly unrepentant expression, coupled with the amusement written all over his face, finally shattered the last restraint on the resentment I’d been carrying.
He was the reason I’d spent countless sleepless nights torturing myself with endless speculation. And now he was laughing about it.
“Lianne…” He finally managed to stop, his breathing uneven from both laughter and pain. Reaching toward me, he said softly, “Come here. Come a little closer.”

“I’m not coming over there!” I stubbornly turned my face away, refusing to let him see the tears threatening to spill from my eyes.
“So…” Ethan leaned back against the pillow, his deep, mesmerizing eyes dancing with amusement. “You think I slept with other women?”
His teasing tone only added fuel to the bitterness I had been suppressing for so long. The emotions exploded all at once.
I bit down on my lip, my voice coming out far sharper than intended. “You can sleep with whoever you want!”
I knew I had no right to interfere in his private life. We had been apart for nearly four years. Even if he’d had countless lovers during that time, what right did I have to question it?
But the mere thought that those intimate marks might have been left by another woman felt like a fist squeezing around my heart. It hurt so much I could barely breathe.
Ethan, however, made no attempt to explain himself. Instead, he let out a low laugh.
“Oh, the woman you’re talking about…” He deliberately dragged out the words, his gaze turning distant as though recalling a treasured memory. “She was definitely wild. Not only did she bite my shoulder, but she cried and kept saying I was the best man she’d ever had. We…” His lips curved into a smirk. “Let’s just say we spent plenty of intimate nights together.”
“You!” My ears burned with fury. It felt as though he had ripped a piece straight out of my chest.
