Chapter 494:
“They’ve already received something far more valuable than any of that.” I cut her off, irritation flashing in my eyes. “Lianne raised them with love. Their kindness, their innocence, their compassion, those things are worth more than all the political scheming and power struggles this pack could teach them.”
“Enough!” Rola snapped, her voice ringing through the room. The disgust in her eyes was no longer hidden. “Ethan, you’ve completely lost your judgment because of that woman. Let me make one thing clear. As long as I draw breath, she will never, ever be part of the Voss family. In my eyes, she’ll always be nothing more than a disgraceful plaything.”
The words disgraceful plaything hit me like a punch to the chest.
A violent fury exploded inside me, drowning out even the agony tearing through my body. Ignoring the pain, I forced myself upright.
Instantly, the monitoring machines beside my bed erupted into shrill alarms.
The tubes Melisa had carefully connected only moments ago pulled painfully against my skin, restricting my movements.
I stared at Rola’s cold, indifferent face, and something inside me finally broke.
With one violent motion, I ripped every monitoring wire from my body.

The machines crashed to the floor, their piercing alarms screaming through the room.
“Ethan! Have you lost your mind?” Rola shouted, her face draining of color.
I didn’t care.
The movement tore open the wound that had only just stopped bleeding.
Warm blood immediately surged from my chest, soaking through the white hospital gown in seconds.
A searing, unbearable pain ripped through every nerve in my body, but I welcomed it.
Because only pain this intense could force me to face the truth: Lianne was going to leave me.
“Say that again…” My bloodshot eyes remained fixed on Rola. Blood loss blurred my vision, but my voice never wavered. “Who are you to look down on her? And who gave you the right to decide my children’s future?”
Ethan’s POV:
“Doctor! Get a doctor in here!” Rola completely lost her composure. Staggering toward the door, she shouted at the top of her lungs.
The door burst open, and Melisa rushed in with several nurses close behind.
The moment her eyes landed on the chaos scattered across the floor and the spreading bloodstain soaking my chest, she stopped dead in her tracks.
“Alpha! What on earth are you doing?” she exclaimed, before immediately hurrying forward to treat my injuries.
“Stay back!” I twisted away, refusing Melisa’s touch. Like a wounded lone wolf cornered and bleeding, I rejected anyone who tried to come near.
“Ethan, calm down! At this rate, you’re going to kill yourself!” Rola stood nearby, tears streaming uncontrollably down her face.
But I kept my eyes locked on her, refusing all treatment. I wanted an answer. I wanted her to acknowledge Lianne.
Melisa was rattled by my stubborn, self-destructive behavior. Sweat gathered on her forehead as panic crept into her expression.
Suddenly, she pulled out her phone and snapped, “Fine! If you’re determined not to cooperate, I’ll call Lianne right now! Let her come see what you’re doing to yourself. She stayed by your side until you pulled through, and this is how you repay her?”
