Chapter 504

Chapter 504:
His tone was casual, but I caught the brief flash of panic that crossed his eyes, a reaction so quick even he himself seemed unaware of it.
I narrowed my eyes. “Jeremy,” I said bluntly, “are you already falling for her?”
Ethan’s POV:
“No!” Jeremy’s reaction was so strong he almost flew out of his seat. “I’ve always liked women with fire in them. Tracy’s way too ordinary and boring for me!”
I caught the denial spilling from his lips a beat too fast, and I met it with a calm, measured warning. “Stay away from her. Her accommodations are already settled elsewhere, and I hear she’s set to leave in just a few days. That’s how it should be. She’s not part of the Thorn Pack, and you’d be wise not to entangle yourself with her.”
Jeremy’s expression stiffened for a brief second. A trace of something unreadable flickered across his eyes before disappearing just as quickly.
“Yeah, whatever,” he muttered. Making up some excuse, he hurriedly left the room, his retreating figure thick with frustration.
Pressing a hand against my aching chest, I slowly returned to my chair.
The hospital suite had a spacious sofa and even a folding bed for visitors, but neither appealed to me. I preferred this uncomfortable wooden chair. At least from here, I could stay a little closer to Lianne.
I pulled out my phone. A message from Noah immediately caught my eye.
“Alpha, with regard to how things stand with Lianne… would you like me to inform the pack members back home? Or is there anything personal you’d like me to handle on her behalf?”

My gaze drifted from the screen to Lianne’s sleeping face, and warmth spread quietly through my chest.
I typed a reply. “No need. She’s already here with me.”
After a brief pause, I added another line. “This time, the roles have flipped. She’s the one chasing me.”
In the past, I had always been the one chasing after her. I was the one constantly weaving plans and doing everything possible to keep her within reach.
Back then, she had always been cautious and distant, ready to run at the first opportunity.
But this time, she had come to me of her own accord.
The snowstorm in Thiynia was brutal, but she still made the journey to me.
Being chosen by her felt wonderful. It was the greatest gift I could have asked for.
Setting the phone aside, I gently took her hand from atop the blanket and held it in mine, grounding myself in the warmth that proved she was truly here.
Lianne’s POV:
I slept deeply, but the sleep wasn’t peaceful. My dreams were filled with endless snowstorms sweeping across Thiynia.
When I finally opened my eyes, the afternoon sun had already begun to fade, slanting through the windows and painting long streaks of gold across the wooden floor.
The moment I moved, a deep ache spread through my waist and limbs, reminding me just how exhausted I was.
Blinking away the remnants of sleep, I glanced around the room. Ethan wasn’t in bed.
