Chapter 549:
He spoke as though it were the most ordinary thing in the world.
I couldn’t stop myself from laughing.
Taking advantage of the moment, Ethan pulled me closer and pressed a lingering kiss against my forehead.
Near my ear, his low voice turned rough with sincerity. “Nothing matters more to me than you, Lianne.”
His affectionate words melted through me instantly, dissolving the walls I had struggled to keep intact.
Heat rushed to my cheeks while my heartbeat lost all rhythm.
The fear planted inside me after Frank’s revelation slowly weakened beneath Ethan’s embrace.
I wanted to believe Frank had been mistaken. The Thorn Pack might have been feared by others, but they had never once treated me cruelly. Could they truly have been responsible for my father’s death?
Yet despite my efforts to deny it, uneasiness still lingered beneath the surface of my thoughts.

“Mommy! Come look at my room!” Ruby’s delighted voice snapped me from my thoughts. She raced toward me at full speed, seized my hand, and dragged me upstairs.
The moment I reached the doorway of the pastel-colored princess bedroom, I stood there speechless.
Lianne’s POV
This room had once been Ethan’s private library, a place so important to him that no one else was ever allowed inside.
Now, however, the towering shelves and heavy tomes were gone. In their place stood a beautifully carved princess bed draped with layers of delicate lace curtains. The walls were decorated with dreamy, fairy-tale murals that transformed the entire space.
I walked over and gently brushed my fingers across the foot of the bed.
There was a name carved into the wood: Ruby, written in the ancient werewolf language.
“When did you prepare all of this?” I asked, turning around in surprise just as Ethan walked up to me.
“From the moment I found out I had a daughter,” he replied. He wrapped his arms around my waist and placed his chin on my shoulder, sounding relaxed and tender. “I kept imagining what kind of place my little princess should live in, and this room is what I prepared for her.”
My heart immediately melted.
Ethan had been trying to make up for all those years we were apart, in his own clumsy yet sincere way.
Suddenly, his arms tightened around me. His lips trailed the side of my neck before finding mine.
“Mmm… the kids are still here…” I protested weakly, pressing my palms against his solid chest.
“Silas will look after Ruby,” Ethan answered casually.
He then deepened the kiss. His tongue pried my mouth open, and the kiss turned ravenous and possessive.
His voice was rough with longing as he murmured near my lips, “As long as you’re with me, I don’t care where I sleep. Lianne, I’ve waited for this day for so long that it nearly drove me crazy.”
Close by, Silas watched everything with a level of composure that seemed far beyond his age.
