Chapter 551:
At this hour, the roundabout was completely deserted. The faint glow of the streetlights stretched the shadows of the trees across the ground, twisting them into strange and frightening shapes.
Frank stood beneath one of the lights. He wore a dark gray hoodie, and half of his face was hidden beneath the shadows, making him look grim.
“Did you find the footage?” I asked immediately, skipping all greetings. Even I could hear the slight tremble in my voice.
“I did. It was damaged, but I found a top hacker to restore it.” His eyes stayed fixed on me, carrying a heaviness that made my stomach churn. “Lianne, do you know why I’m so sure the Thorn Pack was involved? While I was investigating, I met a retired veteran. He used to be a Gamma warrior of the Thorn Pack.”
Each word hit me hard. He continued, “That day, he saw something beneath the driver’s seat of your father’s car. There was a pack insignia carved with the Thorn Pack totem. That kind of insignia is only given to core members of the pack.”
I stared at Frank, unable to process what I had just heard. It felt as though the blood running through my body had suddenly frozen.
“No… that’s impossible…” My voice came out faint. My nails dug deeply into my palms without me realizing it.
“The footage restoration will take some time. When it’s finished, the truth will reveal itself.” Frank looked at me standing there in the cold night, my body trembling slightly. A trace of sympathy flashed across his eyes, but his voice remained firm. “Go back. Otherwise, Ethan might start suspecting something.”
After saying that, he turned around and walked away. He didn’t look back once. Soon, his figure disappeared into the darkness.
I returned to the villa in a daze, my mind a chaotic mess.

What if the Thorn Pack really had something to do with my father’s death? If Rola was involved, or… No. I couldn’t allow myself to continue down that path.
I opened the villa door, quietly stepped inside, and removed my coat, which had been chilled by the night air.
I had just started making my way upstairs when the living room lights suddenly turned on.
The sudden brightness forced me to narrow my eyes.
Slowly, I turned around. Ethan was sitting in the center of the single armchair.
“Where did you go?” His voice was low, hoarse, and cold.
My heart sank instantly, and my mind went completely blank.
I knew I had been caught.
The air-conditioning in the room felt colder than usual, and under Ethan’s sharp gaze, a chill slowly crawled up my spine.
He sat there calmly. Yet that calmness felt more suffocating than anger ever could.
I didn’t feel much guilt; what I felt was the fear of having my secret exposed.
Ethan couldn’t find out why I had left in the middle of the night. Because once he learned the truth, our fragile relationship would collapse completely, leaving nothing but broken pieces that could never be put back together.
