Chapter 555:
Ethan walked toward me and gently tucked a loose strand of hair behind my ear, looking at me with so much affection. “It doesn’t matter. We can stay there for as long as we want. If you want to see snow, then we’ll wait until the first snowfall. Wherever you want to go, I’ll go with you.”
“But your health…” I reached out anxiously and placed my hand on his chest. “You have a lot to deal with back at the pack. You should return and continue recovering.”
Ethan took my hand, brought it to his lips, and kissed it softly. His eyes held complete sincerity. “Lianne, I don’t want you to have any regrets left in your heart. I owe you too much from these past few years. I want to make up for every single thing I failed to give you.”
I buried myself in his arms and slowly shook my head.
In truth, being loved by him this deeply and completely was already more than enough.
I only wanted the truth about my father’s death, but Frank’s findings pointed to the Thorn Pack, and that could tear apart everything we had.
I stayed in Ethan’s arms, quietly aware of something I refused to admit. No matter how beautiful this moment was, perhaps we were never destined to grow old together.
After a long silence, I finally pulled away from his embrace. “Alright. Let’s go to Gelidmark.”

Spring in Gelidmark proved much harsher than I had imagined.
The instant we stepped out of the airport, an icy wind cut through my cashmere sweater. A chill swept over me, raising goosebumps on my skin.
I instinctively curled inward and wrapped my arms around myself. Then a black coat carrying Ethan’s lingering warmth settled over my shoulders.
“I’m fine,” Ethan said, standing directly against the fierce wind. He wore only a thin white shirt, the collar fluttering violently in the gusts, yet he showed no sign of discomfort. He fastened the buttons of the coat around me, then added in a firm tone, “Keep it on.”
Watching his hands, already tinged pale by the cold, I felt both touched and frustrated.
No matter how powerful an Alpha he was, no matter how extraordinary his resistance to harsh weather, he was still made of flesh and blood.
When we got to the villa, dusk was settling in.
The house sat halfway up the mountainside. Its design was sleek and austere, built from gray-and-white marble with vast floor-to-ceiling windows.
The moment we stepped inside, Ruby’s face fell in disappointment. She looked around the spacious, silent living room, then tugged on my hand miserably. “Mommy, I want to go home. This house feels colder than a refrigerator. This place is so boring.”
Ethan lowered himself into a crouch, wearing a rare gentle smile, and lightly tousled her hair. “Go check upstairs first. If you still don’t like it afterward, Daddy will have the whole place demolished and rebuilt.”
Ruby and Silas exchanged doubtful looks before racing up the stairs.
A few moments later, Ruby’s excited scream echoed from the second floor.
I didn’t even need to look to know what had won her over. There were undoubtedly limited-edition dolls waiting for her, along with a fantasy-themed playroom that would thrill any little girl.
