Chapter 560:
Ethan took my cold hand and slipped it into the pocket of his coat.
“Then we’ll come back when winter arrives,” he said, his eyes gentle and sincere. “I’ll watch the first snowfall with you.”
The moment felt perfect, and the warmth surrounding us was almost tangible.
Without warning, Ethan cupped the back of my head and whispered, “Close your eyes.”
Before I could react, his lips found mine in a tender yet passionate kiss.
It was both possessive and careful, as though he treasured me so deeply that he feared hurting me.
Cheers and applause suddenly erupted from the surrounding tourists.
I immediately came back to my senses, my cheeks burning hot. Embarrassed beyond words, I pushed Ethan away and hurried toward the edge of the square.
“Are you shy?” Ethan teased as he effortlessly caught up to me, amusement dancing in his voice.
He caught my hand and pulled me into his embrace, his eyes suddenly turning serious as they locked onto mine. “Lianne, when we get back, let’s restore our bond. Let’s tear up that rejection agreement and make us official again.”
I froze. His words left me momentarily dazed, and memories of the agonizing pain from breaking our bond years ago resurfaced vividly in my mind.

Lowering my gaze, I gently shook my head. “No.”
The smile on Ethan’s face immediately faded, and a trace of panic flashed across his eyes. “Is it because I haven’t proposed properly? If you want a real ceremony, I can arrange—”
“It’s not about that,” I interrupted softly, meeting the uncertainty in his gaze. My heart tightened with pain.
I lifted my hand and lightly traced the sharp lines of his face with my fingertips. “After living through the pain of breaking our bond once, I don’t want to rush into another big decision and end up repeating the same mistake. Ethan, I need time to truly think about our future before I can give you an answer.”
We spent nearly the entire day strolling around the city. Although the cool air was refreshing, it gradually drained my energy.
By the time we got back to the villa, my legs felt unbearably heavy, and exhaustion seemed to seep all the way to my fingertips.
“Why don’t you lie down and rest for a while?” Ethan said as soon as he noticed my fatigue. Taking the coat I had just removed, he gently massaged the back of my neck with his warm hands. “I’ll take the kids out to the garden for a walk. Dinner will be ready soon, so you don’t have to worry about anything. I’ll handle everything.”
I nodded and sank into the bed. But the moment I closed my eyes, Ethan’s phone suddenly vibrated loudly on the nightstand.
The screen lit up with a familiar name: Jeremy.
