Chapter 561:
I was about to call Ethan back to answer it, but before I realized it, my finger had already swiped to accept the call. Before I could even speak, Jeremy’s voice exploded through the speaker, overflowing with excitement. “Ethan! Tracy agreed to date me! Did you hear me? She actually said yes!”
I froze. For several seconds, my mind went completely blank.
Tracy agreed to date Jeremy?
Just a few days ago, the two of them could barely stand being in the same room together. How had things changed so quickly?
Ethan’s voice rang out behind me. “Jeremy, take a breath.”

I didn’t even notice Ethan come back; he took the phone right out of my hand. His brows knitted together, clearly just as surprised as I was.
Instead of immediately congratulating his best friend, Ethan lowered his voice and spoke seriously. “Are you sure Tracy agreed willingly? Jeremy, I’ve already warned you not to play any tricks when it comes to relationships, especially with Lianne’s friends.”
“What kind of person do you think I am?” Jeremy shot back indignantly. “I’m serious about her! I’m already planning to bring her home and introduce her to my family. I want to make our bond official. Ethan, I’m genuinely in love with her.”
Even after the call ended, I still couldn’t shake the feeling that the whole thing was unreal.
Ignoring my exhaustion, I immediately picked up my phone and called Tracy.
The phone rang for a while before she finally answered. Her voice sounded slightly hoarse, yet strangely calm.
“Tracy, what happened?” I asked anxiously. “Did Jeremy pressure you into agreeing? If he did, just tell me. Ethan will take care of it.”
Lianne’s POV
There was a brief silence on the other end of the line before Tracy sighed softly. “Lianne, I chose to date Jeremy on my own.”
Her tone was calm and sincere. “Honestly, I don’t have very strong feelings for him yet. Jeremy can be controlling, childish, and sometimes so annoying that I want to strangle him.”
“Then why did you…”
“Because his family is amazing,” Tracy interrupted gently. “A couple of days ago, he secretly brought me home to meet them. His parents, his brothers… the way they interact with each other is so warm. It’s exactly the kind of family I’ve always wished for but never had. And lately, he has been treating me very well. No matter how many times I turned him down, he kept showing up again and again. Somehow, that stubborn determination grew on me. So I thought maybe I should give him a chance.”
The weight in my heart finally eased.
Tracy had always been practical and level-headed. She wasn’t drawn to Jeremy because of his status or fortune. She had simply considered everything carefully and decided to take a chance on a man whose eyes seemed to see no one but her.
She wasn’t chasing some fairy-tale romance. All she wanted was a home filled with warmth and stability.
After ending the call, I rested against the headboard, a mix of emotions swirling in my heart.
It was difficult to picture Jeremy, the infamous playboy, together with my cool and reserved friend. No matter how I looked at it, the combination felt strange.
