Chapter 590

Chapter 590:
I tore through the hospital searching for her. Corridors, waiting rooms, stairwells, lounges. I even checked the rooftop despite the brutal wind slicing through the night.
Pain pulsed through my chest with every breath, sharper now in the cold air. My body still hadn’t recovered, but that no longer mattered.
My hands shook so badly I nearly dropped my phone while repeatedly calling her number. Each unanswered ring tightened the knot of dread inside me.
The damaged bond between us throbbed viciously, sending burning waves of agony through my chest as though my body itself was punishing me.
I was seconds away from ordering the entire hospital locked down and demanding every security recording when I finally saw her.
Lianne stepped through the garden entrance at a slow pace, shoulders slumped beneath the dim glow of the outdoor lights.
Relief struck so suddenly it almost hurt. Then she lifted her face toward me, and everything inside me erupted at once. Fear. Rage. Desperation.
I reached her in a heartbeat. Before she could speak, I seized her wrist and pulled her hard against me until her body slammed into my chest.
“Ah!” A startled breath escaped her lips.

I wrapped my arms around her with crushing force, as though loosening my grip for even a second would make her disappear again.
My breathing turned uneven, harsh, and unstable. My heartbeat pounded wildly, carrying the weight of emotions I could barely contain.
“Where were you? Why weren’t you answering your phone?” I whispered shakily beside her ear.
“Ethan…” Her voice was soft, soothing. She gently rubbed my back as if trying to calm a frightened animal. “I only went outside for air. My phone was silenced. I didn’t notice the calls… I didn’t run away. I’m still here.”
“Stop talking.”
The words came out rough, edged with fury.
I had never spoken to her like that before.
She stiffened briefly in surprise, then slowly relaxed against me. Her arms circled my waist in return while her tone grew even gentler. “I’m sorry. Next time I leave, I’ll tell you first. Ethan, don’t worry. Even if… if someday I have to go, I’ll let you know first.”
“Someday?”
That single word split through me. A violent surge of anger crashed over everything else.
“No. Don’t say that!” I pulled back just enough to grip both her shoulders, my fingers trembling uncontrollably.
My voice fractured under the strain. “How many times do you expect me to survive losing you? How many times am I supposed to endure you disappearing from my life? If you plan on leaving again, then end it now. Kill me instead of forcing me to live through that kind of hell twice.”
Something inside me finally broke.
The strength I’d been forcing myself to maintain vanished all at once. My knees nearly gave out as I collapsed against her shoulder, exhausted beyond measure.
Every trace of authority I carried as Alpha crumbled in that instant.
Tears slipped silently down my face, soaking into her skin.
I was terrified of losing her again.
