Chapter 593

Chapter 593:
“Enough… stop talking! If this turns out to be a lie, I’ll make you regret ever opening your mouth!” I snarled, jaw clenched so tightly it hurt. Rage burned through my stare.
Ivy burst into wild laughter, tears spilling down her cheeks. “A lie? Then go ask Rola yourself! Ask her what it’s like injecting fifty milligrams of mercury into Lianne’s father! And ask Lianne whether she could ever forgive the person behind her father’s death. Ask if she’ll still sleep peacefully beside the grandson of the woman that destroyed her father!”
That was the moment I finally broke.
My body lurched backward, unsteady and numb. A metallic taste flooded my mouth.
Before I could react, blood spilled past my lips and splattered across the cement beneath me in dark red streaks.
Ivy’s expression changed instantly, panic replacing her madness. She slammed both hands against the bars, screaming for assistance. “Ethan! Help him! Somebody get in here!”
“Don’t touch me…” I lifted a shaking hand toward the guards rushing forward. Though faint, my voice still carried command.
I wiped the blood from my chin, but an unbearable hollowness had already settled inside me, as if I were sinking endlessly into darkness.
Everything became unbearably quiet. So quiet I could almost hear something inside me snapping apart.
If Ivy was telling the truth… if Lianne discovered that her father’s death, her years of misery, and every painful connection between us existed because of my family’s greed…
I couldn’t let my thoughts continue.

My movements felt lifeless as I turned away and headed for the exit.
Behind me, Ivy dissolved into desperate sobbing. “Ethan, wait! I love you more than she ever will! I can help you keep this hidden from her! I’d sacrifice anything for you… even myself…”
Her words meant nothing.
Her love, hatred, and obsession. It all felt disgusting to me now.
I pushed through the warehouse doors just as dawn spread pale light across the horizon.
The icy wind swept through my hair while my trembling hands reached for my phone. I dialed a number I hadn’t contacted in years. Nic.
He was a brilliant hacker, the only one who could uncover the truth for me.
“Boss? Didn’t expect to hear from you.” Nic’s voice came through the line. He was clearly caught off guard.
I shut my eyes, the taste of iron still lingering in my throat. “I need a favor… I need you to find a piece of footage for me. Use everything you’ve got.”
“So what is it, exactly?”
I paused. Speaking the next words felt unbearable. “I need every surveillance recording from the day Lianne’s father died. Every camera near that road. I want untouched copies. I don’t care how many times the files were erased. Recover them.”
Lianne’s POV
A little after dawn, I snapped awake from a night filled with uneasy dreams.
Without thinking, I stretched my hand toward the other side of the bed, expecting warmth. Instead, my fingertips brushed against sheets that had long gone cold.
