Chapter 600:
Before she could finish, I interrupted her, “Lianne, go and stay with the kids. I… I don’t need you here right now.”
After forcing her out of the room, I stood there watching her slender silhouette disappear outside the door.
The moment she was gone, the room instantly felt empty. I leaned heavily against the headboard, exhaustion washing over me.
The room was eerily silent. It wasn’t peaceful. It was suffocating.

My hands shook as I picked up my phone and called Nic.
“Send it over,” I said the moment the call connected. My voice was rough and dry.
Nic’s reply came after a pause. His tone was unusually serious. “Boss, are you sure you want to watch it? This video could ruin everything you’ve built. If you want, I can delete it right now. No one else will ever see it.”
I closed my eyes. Lianne’s sleeping face immediately appeared in my mind. Then came the image of the two children running around the house. They had finally begun to accept me as their father.
This was the happiness I had chased for almost four years. It was finally within reach. Yet it felt as delicate as glass, as though one touch could shatter it completely.
“Send it over.” I repeated the words without hesitation. My voice was firm, carrying a stubborn determination.
The call ended. Soon, a download window popped up on my screen.
I watched the progress bar inch forward.
The moment the file finished downloading, I saw the preview image. A chill swept through my body.
The footage had been captured by a surveillance camera on a rainy night.
The image quality was poor, but I recognized the figure dressed in black immediately.
It was my grandmother, Rola.
She was carrying a sealed metal container, which she handed to a man wearing a white lab coat.
Ivy was telling the truth.
Rola was behind Lianne’s father’s death; she’d had him poisoned.
A crushing pain spread through my heart. It was so intense that breathing became difficult.
Even my wolf sensed the despair consuming me. It let out low growls in my mind.
I stared at the screen. My finger hovered above the play button. But I couldn’t bring myself to press it. Fear rooted me in place.
If I watched the video, there would be no turning back. I would know everything.
If Lianne ever found out, I would become her enemy. She would take our children and leave. She would disappear from my life forever. Perhaps she might go as far as killing me for revenge.
I couldn’t lose them. I simply couldn’t.
That thought dug deep into my mind, drowning out all reason.
As the Alpha of Thorn Pack, I had never been a man bound by mercy. I could be merciless. I could be vicious. And when necessary, I could cast aside every moral boundary.
Ethan’s POV
I drew in a slow breath.
If the truth would tear us apart, then I would rather bury it forever.
My hand shook as I opened the file management menu.
A warning window appeared on the screen.
