Chapter 601:
“Are you sure you want to permanently delete this file? This cannot be undone. The file will be removed from both cloud and local storage.”
My gaze lingered on the “Yes” button. At that moment, memories of the past few nights flooded my mind: Lianne holding me, wrapping me in her warm embrace.
I murmured under my breath, “I’m sorry, Lianne.”
I shut my eyes and clicked the button without another thought.
The file was wiped clean, as if it had never existed.
Lianne’s POV
I sat on a white garden bench, watching Ruby and Silas chase each other across the neatly trimmed lawn.
The breeze carried the fresh scent of grass and blooming roses. Everything around me felt calm and peaceful.

However, my thoughts were far from peaceful. They kept revisiting the morning Ethan came back looking terrible.
His words “I’m disgusting” lingered in my mind like a wound that refused to heal, tearing open every time I remembered them.
What was he hiding from me?
“Mom! Mom!” Ruby came running toward me like a cheerful little bird and hopped onto my lap. Her cheeks were pink from play, and her bright eyes sparkled with excitement. “Can we call Dad outside? I want to watch him turn into his wolf! I want to ride on the big wolf and play hide-and-seek!”
My chest tightened. I glanced toward the upper floors of the hospital wing.
“Ruby, be a good girl,” I said softly, brushing aside her damp bangs. “Your dad is still healing. He can’t shift into his wolf form and play with you right now. Why don’t you go build a sandcastle with Silas? When your dad is fully recovered, I’ll make sure he plays with you.”
“But shifting isn’t even that difficult.” Silas stood nearby with his arms folded across his chest. He pursed his lips and said, “I’ll be able to shift one day. When that happens, Ruby can play with me. We won’t need our old man anymore.”
Ruby tilted her head and looked at him seriously. “Then when will you be able to shift, Silas?”
My eyes settled on my son’s face. Even at his young age, traces of an Alpha’s sharp and commanding traits were already beginning to emerge. After a brief pause, I answered, “Most wolves experience their first shift at eighteen. But your father was different. He completed his first shift when he was sixteen. Silas carries the purest and strongest Alpha bloodline. If your father guides him properly, it might happen even earlier.”
“Really?” Ruby’s eyes immediately lit up. She leaned closer and smiled. “Mom, are we always going to live happily with Dad like this? Just like the families in fairy tales?”
Looking into my daughter’s innocent eyes, I felt my throat tighten.
In Thorn Pack, where betrayal, bloodshed, and cruel fate ruled every corner, happiness was often nothing more than a fragile dream.
But seeing the hope shining on my children’s faces, I forced a smile. “Yes,” I said firmly. “We’ll always stay together as a happy family.”
The moment I said this, I felt deep guilt.
