Chapter 610:
“Mom, I want to ride that! The carousel!” Ruby tugged eagerly at my sleeve, pointing toward the beautifully decorated carousel that looked as though it had been lifted straight from a children’s fairy tale.
I couldn’t bring myself to refuse her, despite having always disliked spinning rides.
Cradling Ruby, I climbed onto a snow-white carousel horse. The moment the music started, the world around us dissolved into a spinning blur.
After only two rounds, the familiar nausea crashed over me like a powerful wave.
My stomach twisted violently, my vision became hazy, and even the platform beneath me seemed to rock unsteadily.

Just as the horse lifted again and I teetered on the verge of falling, a firm, warm hand wrapped securely around my waist, catching me in time.
I hadn’t even realized when Ethan had stepped onto the carousel.
He drew me against him, the warmth of his chest pressed gently to my back. His familiar masculine scent surrounded me, easing the nausea that had nearly consumed me.
“Stop it.” He addressed the staff in a calm voice that carried unquestionable authority.
The carousel gradually came to a stop, and he supported most of my weight as he helped me down from the horse.
His arms were solid and steady. Even through the thin fabric of my clothes, the heat of his palm seeped into my skin, sending a tingling sensation racing up my spine.
“Go sit on that bench and rest. I’ll watch the kids,” he said quietly.
His eyes lingered on my pale face for a brief moment before he turned back to the two children, his expression returning to its usual composed calm.
It took me a long while before the dizziness finally subsided enough for me to regain my balance.
I bought a bottle of chilled water from a vending machine and walked back, only to discover that the bench had already been taken by a couple. Left with no choice, I stood beneath the shade of a nearby tree, silently watching them from afar.
A short distance away, two fashionably dressed young women kept stealing glances at Ethan, excitedly whispering between themselves.
“Oh my God, that guy is unbelievably handsome… is he some kind of celebrity?”
“He’s not wearing a wedding ring, so he has to be single, right? You should go ask for his number!”
A moment later, the blonde finally gathered her courage and walked over to Ethan.
I watched as Ethan remained motionless, not even bothering to turn toward her. The instant she spoke, he just shot her a frosty sidelong glance before his lips parted to deliver a single sentence.
The smile on her face stiffened immediately. She awkwardly fiddled with her fingers for a moment before retreating with a disappointed expression.
Almost immediately afterward, Ethan lifted his eyes and swept his gaze across the crowd, like he was looking for me.
The two women, apparently interpreting his glance as encouragement, refused to give up and approached him together.
I took a few steps closer, close enough now to hear what they were saying.
“Excuse me, sir, would you mind exchanging contact information? Or perhaps…”
