Chapter 622:
Looking straight at Adrian, the man tied to me by family, I spoke without hesitation. “I failed to stop the murder years ago. Because of that, I have no authority to interfere with Lianne’s pursuit of justice now. And you should stay out of this.”
“I’ll protect Rola no matter what!” Adrian hissed through clenched teeth.
A faint smile touched my lips, though no warmth reached them.
I had always been grateful to Rola; she raised me, and I had never forgotten that. But that didn’t give her a pass for doing the wrong thing. I wouldn’t cover for her.
Adrian finally exploded, all restraint gone as he pointed furiously at me. “That manipulative woman has poisoned your mind completely! You defend someone so vicious without question. What kind of Alpha does that make you?”
“Don’t talk about my mommy like that!” Silas burst out at last.
He stormed forward angrily, eyes blazing with fire. “You don’t get to insult her! You’re the terrible one!”
Adrian had already lost all composure. He sneered at Silas with open disdain. “Exactly what I’d expect from that woman’s child. Silas, you inherited your mother’s stupidity. You don’t deserve the Voss name.”
Silas shook violently with fury, tiny fists balled so tightly it looked as though he intended to fight Adrian himself.
But he was still only a child. His wolf had not even awakened yet. Challenging a grown adult like this would only end with him getting crushed.

“Silas. Step back,” I ordered firmly.
“No! He insulted Mommy!” he yelled stubbornly.
The smug look on Adrian’s face pushed my patience to its limit.
As Alpha, I understood that true leadership could not depend solely on force. I almost never used my authority against members of my own family.
But if I allowed this to continue, Adrian truly would hurt Silas.
“Adrian, apologize to Silas, and then get on your knees,” I said coldly.
The terrifying dominance unique to an Alpha erupted from me without restraint.
Immediately, the entire courtyard felt suffocated beneath unbearable pressure.
No matter how much ambition Adrian possessed, he could never overpower the instinctive submission carved into his blood before an Alpha.
All color drained from his face. His legs gave out beneath him, and he crashed onto the ground in humiliating defeat.
“Apologize,” I repeated, towering above him with merciless authority.
Large beads of sweat rolled down Adrian’s forehead. Beneath the crushing force of rank suppression, resistance became impossible. His voice quivered as he forced the words out. “I’m sorry… I spoke out of line.”
Silas remained tense, fists still clenched, tears gathering in his reddened eyes. Forgiveness was far from his mind.
Startled by everything unfolding around her, Ruby wrapped herself tightly around my neck, trembling. “Daddy… I’m scared. I want to go…”
I immediately pulled back my oppressive aura and soothed her gently with a hand against her back.
“Okay. We’re leaving,” I told her softly.
Without another glance at Adrian, I turned away with the children and walked out.
Everything necessary had already been said. My position could not have been clearer.
