Chapter 633:
Lianne seemed to recognize my voice as she noticeably relaxed. She mumbled something I couldn’t make out, then drifted off into a deep sleep.
I looked at the screen and saw a new message from Frank.
“Lianne, I’ll bring breakfast over tomorrow morning. The sandwich shop you like always has a long line, so I’ll get there early. Rest well. There’s no need to rise early.”
I stared at those words. My grip on the phone tightened until it felt like it might crack in my hand.
A wave of bitterness surged through me, slowly eating away at me from the inside.
Frank had always been this thoughtful. His care for Lianne had no limits.
Without thinking, I began typing, wanting to remind him that I was the one with her now. My thumb lingered over the send button for a while. Then I decided to delete the message.
I should have been thankful.
Lianne was trapped in one of the darkest periods of her life, and having someone as sincere as Frank looking out for her was far better than having someone with ulterior motives getting close to her.

But no matter how much I tried to be reasonable, the jealousy inside me burned too hot, and it hurt.
I took a deep breath, placed the phone back on the pillow, and shut my eyes, a bitter smile tugging at my lips.
Lianne’s POV
The next morning, I woke with a splitting headache.
I slowly pushed myself upright. Every muscle in my body was sore. I looked around at the unfamiliar hotel room.
The room was silent, and I was alone.
I gradually remembered bits and pieces of what had happened last night.
I remembered drinking, sending that reckless message, Ethan arriving with that distant, intimidating expression, and then… being carried here in his arms.
Now, though, he was gone.
I made my way to the bathroom and washed up, splashing cold water over my face, hoping it would help relieve the strange feeling of emptiness growing inside me.
When I came back out, I noticed a glass of honey water sitting on the bedside table. Beneath it was a handwritten note. “Drink the honey water when you wake up. Don’t drink by yourself out on the street. It’s not safe. If you really have to drink, at least make sure Frank is with you.”
My gaze stayed fixed on the note. My heart felt even emptier.
I knew what Ethan meant.
He was stepping back. He was letting go of me. He was pushing me toward another man.
He had truly decided to give up on me.
I was rooted to the spot. It wasn’t until the edge of the paper nicked my finger that I got pulled back to reality.
I composed myself, took a deep breath, and quickly picked up my phone to call Tracy.
I started worrying when I remembered I’d left her with Jeremy last night.
The phone rang a few times before someone answered. But instead of Tracy’s familiar voice, I heard Jeremy. He couldn’t hide the excitement in his voice.
