Chapter 639:
Tim let out a soft sigh and said honestly, “I understand. Based on the current evidence, both defendants are likely to face sentencing. The real battle will be over the charges and how severe their punishments will be. As your lawyer, I need to know your priority. Are you seeking substantial financial compensation, or do you want the strongest criminal punishment possible?”
“I won’t accept any settlement or any amount of money,” I answered immediately. “I’m not filing this lawsuit to take the Voss family’s wealth. No amount of money could ever equal my father’s life.”
I rose from my seat and walked to the window, watching the heavy traffic below. My voice was calm but unwavering. “I don’t want compensation. I want justice. I want those responsible to pay the price for their crimes with their lives. I want the truth revealed in court.”
Tim fell silent for a moment, then said, “Miss Riley, you should prepare yourself. In our legal system, cases involving powerful werewolves often end with one person receiving a severe sentence while the other escapes most of the consequences through bail or reduced charges.”
“I know.” I turned to face him with unwavering resolve. “If the first verdict isn’t satisfactory, I’ll file an appeal. As long as I’m still breathing, I won’t give up. Whatever the final judgment is, I’ll accept it. But I will never accept giving up before the trial has even begun.”

Seeing that my resolve would not waver, Tim closed the case file, nodded solemnly, and extended his hand. “Then our firm will devote everything we have to your case. Justice may not come quickly, but we’ll do everything possible to make sure it isn’t denied.”
Looking into his genuine eyes, I felt my nose sting. I bowed deeply before him. “Thank you, Tim. Thank you for accepting this case despite all the challenges you’ll face.”
When I straightened up, my voice trembled slightly. “I have complete faith in your expertise.”
Lianne’s POV:
The glare outside the office building made me squint the moment I stepped onto the street.
Before heading back to the hotel, I stopped at a nearby grocery store and picked up some fruit, then carried the bags all the way back to the suite where I was staying for now.
Lately, every spare minute had been spent scrolling through apartment listings on my phone.
The arrangement at Tracy’s place was only temporary. Once the legal process officially moved forward and reached its conclusion, I intended to leave for good. I wanted somewhere untouched by old memories, somewhere that belonged only to me.
Still, Tracy’s silence unsettled me. She hadn’t answered a single text since morning, and the longer it went on, the more restless I became.
I tried calling her, only to hear the repetitive busy signal in my ear.
I was about to try again when a WhatsApp message came through. “She’s showering. I’ve got her phone.”
It was obviously from Jeremy.
My expression darkened instantly. I typed back without hesitation. “Why are you always the one replying? Give the phone back to Tracy.”
A picture arrived almost immediately after.
Behind it was the misty glass wall of Tracy’s bathroom. Through the haze, her silhouette was barely visible, her back to the camera as she towel-dried her damp hair.
