Chapter 668:
My fingers trembled as I reached up to continue scrolling through the comments.
Before I could read another one, the screen suddenly refreshed.
A system notification appeared. “The post you are trying to access has been removed.”
Lianne’s POV:
I watched the notification that read “The post you are trying to access has been removed,” then reloaded the page again and again until I was certain every trace of the online discussion had disappeared.
The speed with which Voss Group erased rumors was almost unbelievable.
A deep breath escaped my lips, and the tight knot inside my chest finally loosened. If no one uncovered my history with Ethan, I could at least preserve my pride through these remaining six months.

I had barely set my phone aside and reached for the flowers to continue snipping their stems when the device suddenly began to buzz.
It was an incoming video call from Ethan.
Before I could smooth my tangled hair or make myself look presentable, my thumb had already accepted it.
His face appeared on the display. His complexion looked faintly drained, yet it did nothing to lessen his remarkable looks.
I was the one who broke the silence. “Isn’t it the middle of the night in Nshire? Why are you still awake?”
“I wanted you to see the children.”
His voice remained rough from exhaustion, yet its quiet gentleness carried a comforting pull that was impossible to ignore.
He angled the phone toward the bed. Both children were sleeping soundly.
Ruby had somehow managed to twist herself into another ridiculous sleeping position. Her legs rested on the pillow while the rest of her sprawled across the mattress, lips parted slightly. She looked so carefree that I couldn’t help smiling.
Without realizing it, the corners of my mouth lifted. I quietly started recording, hoping to keep this precious little scene.
“What are you doing?” Ethan asked after turning the camera back toward himself, his dark eyes studying me carefully.
“I’m arranging flowers a coworker gave me,” I answered truthfully, placing another trimmed champagne rose into the vase.
Silence settled between us.
Even separated by a screen, I could tell something in Ethan’s mood had shifted. When he finally spoke, there was a restrained edge beneath his calm voice. “You really like flowers?”
“I think most women do. If I look after them carefully, they’ll last a few more days. It feels like the proper way to appreciate someone’s kindness,” I replied with a small chuckle, hoping to lighten the mood.
Thinking about it, I realized Ethan had almost never bought flowers for me, so it made sense that he’d ask.
He said nothing after that. He simply continued watching me.
Leaning comfortably against his chair, he sat framed by the peaceful glow of Nshire’s city lights beyond the window.
He neither ended the call nor continued the conversation. The prolonged quiet became increasingly uncomfortable.
“Are you free right now?” I asked carefully.
“I’ve got a little time. How’s everything at the office? Have you settled in? Are you getting along with everyone?”
