Chapter 671:
To settle things properly, I bought a box of high-end pastries and left them on Zoe’s desk as a token of appreciation.
I had barely settled into my seat at the office when a knock sounded on the door.
Two security staff stepped inside, visibly straining under the weight of an enormous arrangement of deep crimson roses.
The arrangement was so massive that its dense layers of scarlet petals looked capable of swallowing a person whole, and the potent scent filled the room within seconds.
“Ms. Riley, these flowers were requested to be delivered directly to you.”
The staff carefully set the arrangement down beside my desk.
I was completely stunned. A quick glance told me there were easily more than a hundred blooms packed tightly into the display.

My eyes landed on the lavish spread of premium red roses that had all but taken over my desk, and only one name came to mind: Ethan.
Yet hadn’t I explicitly told him just hours ago to stop with these massive, extravagant displays?
And wasn’t that exactly what he’d agreed to?
I stopped the guards before they left, gesturing toward the arrangement. “Did whoever sent these leave a name? Or do you know which florist delivered them?”
The guards shook their heads firmly, their faces remaining professional. “Apologies, ma’am. The sender went through a local courier service and simply asked us to make sure the flowers reached you directly. There was no card or note we could find.”
I dug through the arrangement but found no message anywhere.
My phone stayed completely silent, with no one coming forward to take credit for the striking gesture.
Zoe still hadn’t shown up at the office, and given her financial situation, even a modest apology bouquet would have been a stretch for her. There was no way she could have afforded a display like this.
The only person I could imagine behind it was Ethan.
But at this hour, it was deep in the night over in Nshire, where he had likely just finished another exhausting round of corporate meetings.
Reluctant to bother him over such a minor issue, I decided I’d quietly ask Noah about it the next day.
The display was so massive it took all my physical strength to shift it into the most hidden corner of the room.
I dreaded how fast rumors traveled on the company forum. The last thing I wanted was for someone to snap a picture and spark more gossip about my personal life.
Throughout the rest of the day, focusing on my work proved difficult.
Every time my eyes wandered toward those vivid blossoms in the corner, a part of me felt certain they belonged to Ethan.
Only he would offer a brief “alright” over the phone while quietly orchestrating such an undeniable statement without saying a word about it.
That silent, nearly overbearing affection of his was completely infuriating.
