Chapter 692:
“Tracy,” Silas suddenly said, setting down a Lego piece. His voice was soft, but in the quiet lounge, every word was clear. “Did Mommy and Daddy have a fight?”
My hand froze halfway through turning a page.
“Don’t be silly,” Tracy quickly replied, trying to brush it off. “They’re just tired.”
“That’s not it.” Silas looked up, his calm, piercing gaze so much like Ethan’s that it caught me off guard. “Whenever Daddy isn’t busy, he always holds Mommy’s hand. But today, he’s been staying far away from her.”
He turned to Ethan. “Daddy, are you planning to get us a stepmom?”

The moment he said this, the entire lounge seemed to freeze.
My head shot up in shock, only to meet Ethan’s equally startled eyes.
Without thinking, we both reached out at the same time, our hands locking tightly together.
The warmth of his hand spread into mine. I forced a soft smile and turned to Silas. “Mommy was just thinking about work, sweetheart. I got distracted. I’m sorry for making you worry.”
Ethan slipped an arm around my shoulders and drew me into his arms.
His grip was tight, as if staking a claim for the entire world to see.
Looking at Silas, he spoke in a calm, serious tone. “Silas, remember this. You will never have a stepmom. There will never be any woman except your mommy.”
The conviction in his words hit me hard, sending a strange warmth through my heart.
I found myself looking up at him, meeting eyes filled with unwavering sincerity.
My heartbeat jumped, and I couldn’t tell whether he was just putting on a convincing act for the children, or using this moment to finally speak the true feelings he’d kept buried.
When it was finally time to board, I realized I had walked straight into Jeremy’s trap.
He had arranged for Tracy and the two children to sit together in the spacious front row, while Ethan and I were deliberately assigned the private two-seat row at the back of the plane.
Lianne’s POV:
I tried to switch seats. “Tracy, you’re pregnant. The kids are so energetic. What if they accidentally bump into you? Let me stay with them instead.”
“Not so fast!” Tracy flashed me a mischievous grin and pushed me back into the back seat. Leaning closer, she whispered, “We went through all this trouble to create some alone time for you two. Lianne, don’t let these seven days go to waste.”
After we settled in, the space was so cramped that I had no choice but to sit pressed against Ethan.
When I looked over, I realized just how exhausted he was.
Dark circles framed his eyes, and his face looked unusually pale.
I remembered that he had gotten sick in Nshire. After returning home, he had thrown himself into one task after another while also dealing with jet lag. No matter how strong he was, he couldn’t keep pushing himself like this forever.
My heart grew tender. Carefully, I reached out to feel his forehead and check for a fever. The moment my fingers touched his burning skin, his eyes flew open.
