Chapter 701:
The moonlight mingled with the glow of the campfire, bathing us in gentle silver and gold. As I felt the warmth of his fingers wrapped around mine, an unfamiliar longing quietly blossomed inside me. If only time could remain frozen in this moment forever.
After dinner, we returned to our rooms.
In the quiet hours before dawn, even Brinewick’s waves seemed unusually gentle.
Inside our suite, however, the air felt anything but peaceful.
The seven-day relationship seemed to grant Ethan a sense of entitlement. He swept me into his bedroom, his movements intense and almost possessive.
The wild passion didn’t fade until nearly three in the morning.
Half-asleep, I heard the faint sound of running water from the bathroom. A few minutes later, Ethan returned wearing a bathrobe, a warm towel draped over one arm.
“I can manage…” I muttered hoarsely, trying to sit up despite the lingering ache throughout my body.
Before I could, he rested his hands lightly on my shoulders and eased me back onto the mattress. Leaning close to my ear, he whispered with unmistakable amusement, “For your own sake, I suggest you close your eyes and pretend you’re asleep. Otherwise…” His lips curved into a grin. “I’m still awake enough to keep going until sunrise.”
My entire body instantly went rigid. Without another word, I squeezed my eyes shut, my eyelashes trembling despite my best efforts to stay composed.
A low, satisfied chuckle sounded above me.

He gently dabbed the warm towel against my skin with surprising care.
When the cloth accidentally brushed over one particularly tender spot, I couldn’t stop myself from flinching.
“So you’re still awake.” His amused voice echoed through the quiet room.
Embarrassed beyond words, I stubbornly kept my eyes closed and tried to kick him away. Yet he effortlessly caught my ankle.
With one easy tug, he drew me toward him before lifting me into his arms as though I weighed nothing.
The sudden movement startled a small cry out of me, and I instinctively wrapped my arms around his neck.
Seething with irritation, I sank my teeth into his firm shoulder, releasing all my pent-up frustration.
A subtle metallic trace of blood touched my tongue, yet he didn’t even wince. On the contrary, he pulled me closer, holding me tighter, as if inviting me to pour out every ounce of my anger on him.
“Harder,” he murmured near my ear. “At least then I’ll know this isn’t another dream.”
I slowly released my bite and looked at the faint row of teeth marks I’d left behind. An indescribable ache settled in my chest.
His insecurity was palpable, as if he feared that everything between us had been nothing but a fleeting illusion.
When I opened my eyes again, sunlight was already streaming through the curtains. It was well past nine.
I’d expected Tracy to have flooded the group chat with dozens of messages by now, but my phone remained strangely quiet.
When I stepped out of the bedroom, Ethan was seated on the living room sofa with a laptop resting across his knees.
His fingers moved quickly over the keyboard, yet each keystroke was deliberately light, careful not to wake me.
Just then, his phone buzzed.
