Chapter 705:
Yet as the years passed, that obsessive, suffocating love had slowly tightened around my neck like a noose.
I had always believed she was the angel who illuminated my childhood, never suspecting that beneath her saintly appearance hid the monster responsible for taking Lianne’s father’s life.
“I haven’t forgotten what she’s done for me,” I said icily, refusing to look at the photographs again. “But none of that erases the crimes she committed.”
Philip refused to back down. “I’m furious as well, furious over the horrible things she’s done. But Ethan, as the Alpha, you should understand that Rola is the backbone of Thorn Pack. If she falls, the very foundation of the pack’s beliefs will crumble.”
“So what?” I lifted my eyes, my gaze as cold as ice.

“It doesn’t change the fact that Rola murdered Lianne’s father. I have no right to ask Lianne to let it go, and I certainly can’t forgive Rola on her behalf.”
Realizing I had no intention of yielding, Philip finally gave in, though a calculating gleam flickered across his aged eyes. “If you can’t bring yourself to handle it, then stay out of our way. We’ll take care of everything.”
A chill settled deep inside me as I immediately understood what he was implying.
“You intend to make Ivy take the blame?” I asked, my voice carrying a dangerous edge, every word sharp enough to cut.
“Ivy is already responsible for more crimes than anyone can count,” Philip answered without the slightest hesitation, his matter-of-fact tone sending a chill down my spine. “What’s one more death added to her record? If Rola is sent to prison, it’s no different from condemning her to death. But if Ivy accepts the blame, we’ll compensate her family with a substantial sum of money.”
Ethan’s POV:
I looked at Philip, my heart filled with nothing but icy detachment.
The elders had already decided that Rola was too old and wouldn’t survive prison, so they wanted Ivy to take the fall for her.
To them, the truth and justice were meaningless. The only thing worth protecting was the pack’s reputation.
“I know I owe Rola a lot, but I can’t repay her by ignoring the truth.” I stood up, looking down at him. “Lianne’s father deserves justice. I won’t compromise.”
If uncovering the truth required someone to pay the ultimate price, then so be it.
I would not allow Rola, or anyone else, to evade justice for the murder of Lianne’s father.
It wasn’t because I had no desire to save Rola. Of everyone caught in this case, she was the last person I ever wanted to see standing at its center.
If Ivy alone had been responsible, Lianne would never have needed to painstakingly collect evidence, file lawsuits, or negotiate with anyone. I had countless ways to make Ivy suffer.
But reality was merciless.
The surveillance footage I personally restored left absolutely no room for doubt. The one who ordered the fatal injection and watched Lianne’s father die without the slightest hesitation was none other than Rola.
