Chapter 709:
The moment I opened the door, I nearly bumped into Ethan, who was just about to head out in search of me.
Worry was written all over his face, and he hadn’t even bothered to put on a coat before coming out. The moment he saw me, he rushed over and gripped my shoulders.
“Where did you go? Why weren’t you answering your phone?” He sounded panicked.
“I just went for a walk to clear my mind.” I hid the fact that I’d met Philip and forced a small, reassuring smile.
Before he could ask anything else, I stood on my toes, slipped my arms around his neck, and kissed him.
The kiss carried the cold taste of the sea breeze along with the grief I had buried deep inside my heart.
I held onto his warmth before fate took it away from me.
Because of the obvious difference in our height, staying on my tiptoes to kiss him quickly became exhausting.
Just as I was about to give up and step back, Ethan wrapped a strong arm around my waist and effortlessly lifted me, pressing me against his chest.
His voice dropped to a low murmur, tinged with dangerous suspicion. “Why’d you kiss me? Feeling guilty about something? You disappeared for a while. Did you sneak off to see Frank?”
I rolled my eyes at his ridiculous accusation, gave his chest a soft punch, and replied, “What kind of nonsense are you spouting? I just went out to clear my head. Then I saw you and wanted to kiss you. Am I not allowed to do that?”

“You are,” he said with a soft chuckle. “You’re always allowed.”
The lingering darkness in his eyes melted away.
I made a show of trying to pull away, but he only tightened his arms, holding me closer.
He lowered his head, his deep eyes overflowing with affection. His lips brushed lightly against mine as he whispered in a husky voice, “If you want to kiss me, then kiss me as much as you want.”
His warm breath tickled my skin, making my face flush. I instinctively leaned back and mumbled, “Stop… I want to take a shower…”
Before I could finish speaking, he swept me off my feet. I let out a surprised gasp as he carried me into the bedroom and gently placed me on the spacious bed.
His kisses rained down like a storm, passionate and intense.
That night, he was more tender than ever, yet far more persistent than usual.
He drew me into new, intimate gestures that left me flustered. Every time I tried to push him away, he simply caught my hands with ease.
His repeated promise of “just a little longer” proved to be nothing but a blatant lie.
Our long, passionate night continued until well past midnight before everything finally settled into silence.
When it was over, I lay curled up on the bed, every part of me sore and exhausted. I was so drained I couldn’t even bring myself to move a finger.
