Chapter 714:
Instead of her usual bright voice, all I heard were shaky sobs. She was crying so hard she could barely speak. “Lianne, help me. Jeremy and I fought. He left in anger, and now I’m bleeding…”
My heart immediately sank. My whole body froze, and for a moment, I found it hard to breathe.
I tried to stay composed. While repeatedly telling Tracy to stay where she was and reassuring her over the phone, I quickly called 911. At the same time, I grabbed Ethan’s hand, desperate to run back.
Ethan acted fast. He immediately flagged down one of the resort’s shuttle buses. During the ride, he held my cold hand tightly and spoke in a calm, soothing tone. “Don’t panic. The resort has a doctor on standby. Jeremy prepared for possible complications with the pregnancy beforehand. Tracy will be fine.”

“Will the baby be okay?” I asked, my voice shaking uncontrollably as Tracy’s desperate cries continued to echo in my ears.
A deep crease formed between Ethan’s brows. He immediately tried calling Jeremy, but the call went unanswered.
“Don’t jump to blaming Jeremy yet,” I said, even though I was furious myself and wanted nothing more than to punch him for storming off. “Tracy’s child is what matters most right now.”
The shuttle raced back toward the resort as the piercing siren of an approaching ambulance echoed through the air.
I threw the door open and rushed inside Tracy’s room.
What I saw made my heart nearly stop.
Tracy had collapsed onto the cold floor. The color had completely drained from her face, leaving it ghostly pale. Blood covered her hands and legs, its vivid red so shocking and terrifying.
Her eyes were filled with terror and helplessness, like a frightened child caught alone in a violent storm.
“Tracy!” I rushed to her side, forcing myself to swallow my panic. Though my hands trembled, I carefully gathered her into my arms.
“It’s okay. I’m here now. I’m not leaving you.” I gently stroked her hair. My voice was soft, but it shook as I fought back tears. “Listen to me. Your baby is strong. Everything will be all right. Don’t be scared. We’re taking you to the hospital right away.”
We got Tracy to the hospital, and she was taken into the ER without a moment’s pause. The red light above the doors seared into my eyes.
I couldn’t sit still. I paced the cold, narrow hallway over and over, unable to calm the fear consuming me.
I turned toward Ethan, who stood by the window with a cigarette in his hand, and asked hoarsely, “Still no word from Jeremy?”
Ethan’s brows were drawn tightly together. He stubbed out the cigarette and shook his head. “His phone is still switched off. I’ve sent people to check the resort’s security cameras to find out where he went.”
A surge of anger swept through me.
Jeremy had always carried himself like a dependable person, someone others could count on. But when it mattered most, he had acted so impulsively and irresponsibly.
He knew Tracy was pregnant. Even so, he had chosen to walk away in the middle of an argument.
