Chapter 715

Chapter 715:
During the ambulance ride, Tracy had weakly held onto my hand. As she drifted in and out of consciousness, she’d managed to whisper a few broken sentences.
The reason behind their argument was so ridiculous it was almost unbelievable.
They had unexpectedly run into Tracy’s ex-boyfriend at the resort. The man had simply greeted her and started a casual conversation, but Jeremy’s possessiveness had flared uncontrollably. He’d looked ready to attack the man on the spot, and the savage anger in his eyes had scared Tracy.
Worried things would get out of hand, she had stepped between them to stop him. Instead of calming down, Jeremy’s jealousy only grew stronger. He accused her of still having feelings for her ex-boyfriend.
Furious, Tracy had snapped back, calling him hotheaded and irrational. In the heat of the argument, she had even blurted out that she might have to rethink their engagement.
“Do you think Jeremy could have hit Tracy?” I stopped pacing as the most terrifying possibility popped into my mind. My voice shook as I forced out the question.
“He wouldn’t.” Ethan walked over and firmly placed his hands on my shoulders. His voice was calm and unwavering. “No matter how upset Jeremy may be, he would never lay a hand on Tracy. He’s just overwhelmed by jealousy and needed somewhere to cool off.”
“This is my fault.” I leaned helplessly against the wall, guilt crushing my heart. “I never should have taken the kids out. I shouldn’t have left the two of them alone. If I had stayed with them, none of this would have happened.”
Ethan drew me into his arms. His warm hand cupped the back of my head as he tried to calm my emotions. “Lianne, look at me. None of this is your fault. Stop blaming yourself.”
I pressed my forehead against his chest, listening to the steady rhythm of his heart. Even so, the fear and anxiety inside me refused to ease.
Their engagement ceremony was only days away, and both families had been looking forward to it. If Tracy really lost the baby, I couldn’t bring myself to think about what would happen next.

Lianne’s POV:
At that moment, the sound of hurried footsteps rang through the corridor.
Jeremy rushed toward us, his shirt crumpled and his face ghostly pale. His eyes were filled with panic as he grabbed Ethan by the collar. “Where’s Tracy? How is she?” he demanded.
His voice shook as he explained that he had stepped outside to calm himself, hoping to avoid making their argument even worse while emotions were running high.
But when he finally returned to their room, he was greeted by the sight of blood.
“You finally decided to show up.” I couldn’t hold back any longer. I shoved Jeremy away, my voice thick with anger and disappointment. “Jeremy, you knew how fragile Tracy is right now! You knew she couldn’t handle any more emotional strain, but you left her there by herself!”
Ethan gently took hold of my wrist, silently urging me to calm down.
