Chapter 718:
I looked at her and spoke honestly. “Actually, the two of you are more alike than you realize. Neither of you is completely mature yet. But one thing you should never doubt is how deeply Jeremy loves you. A man who loves as wholeheartedly as he does is incredibly rare in our circle.”
Tracy remained quiet for a long time before she suddenly looked at me and asked, “Lianne, do you think Jeremy and I can really stay together until the end?”
I gave her the only honest answer I could. “No one can ever predict where love will lead. Everyone thinks Ethan and I are the perfect couple, but only I know there’s a very real chance we won’t end up together…”
It was late into the night when I quietly closed the door to Tracy’s hospital room and stepped into the hallway, where Jeremy sat alone on a bench.

The moment he noticed me, he immediately stood up and asked, obvious concern in his voice, “Lianne, how’s Tracy doing?”
Lianne’s POV:
“Tracy’s asleep,” I said in a low tone.
Jeremy immediately tried to rush into the room, but Ethan lifted a hand to stop him.
Ethan’s voice was cold and composed. “Give her some time. A relationship only works when both people are willing to put in the effort. If you go in now, you’ll only make things worse. No one else can solve this for you. You need to think carefully about what you’ve done.”
This time, I didn’t stop Jeremy. My thoughts were still on Tracy and the tiny life growing inside her.
With Ethan there to keep Jeremy calm and help him see reason, I felt a little more at ease.
The unexpected incident completely ruined our lively vacation.
Our planned week in Brinewick ended early, and we all left for home that same night.
Jeremy arranged for a top-tier medical team to accompany Tracy, making sure every part of her transfer was handled with the utmost care.
Seeing him remain beside her stretcher without leaving her side even once finally eased the worry in my heart.
When we returned from Brinewick, Noah drove me and the children home.
I spent some time playing with Ruby and Silas until they both drifted off to sleep.
As I stepped out of their room, I noticed Ethan standing alone on the balcony, speaking on the phone.
His back was turned to me. A half-burnt cigarette rested between his fingers while he spoke in a firm, decisive tone, dealing with what sounded like an urgent matter.
From the bits of conversation I caught, it seemed the pile of unresolved matters waiting for him in Nshire had grown even more complicated.
After ending the call, he turned around. The moment he saw me, the coldness disappeared from his eyes. He asked with concern, “Are you hungry? You barely ate anything on the plane.”
I shook my head and walked over to him. After taking a slow breath, I looked at him seriously. “Ethan, you should go back to work. Nshire needs you. You don’t have to keep involving yourself in my plan to make Rola answer for what she’s done.”
