Chapter 734

Chapter 734:
“I’ll be there.” The traffic light ahead counted down in glowing red numbers as I watched it. “But don’t tell Tracy.”
I knew exactly what she’d do. The moment she learned I was returning, she’d immediately tell Lianne.
And if Lianne knew, she’d avoid me without a second thought.
Perhaps that was for the best.

She wanted justice. I’d make sure she got it. She wanted freedom. I’d give her that too. There was no reason for us to keep reopening wounds by crossing paths.
After ending the call, I noticed a missed call from the guard assigned to Ivy. I returned it immediately.
“Alpha,” the guard said nervously, “we need instructions regarding Ivy. Since the incident with the prison guard, security has been increased, but we’ve confirmed she’s pregnant. That may complicate both the extradition and the Pack Council’s judgment.”
The mere mention of Ivy’s name filled my heart with icy hatred.
She was the root of everything. The one who had destroyed the last traces of warmth between Lianne and me.
“Take care of it before she’s extradited,” I ordered, my fingers tightening around the wheel. “Do it cleanly. I won’t allow a piece of trash like her to delay the trial. Is that understood?”
“Yes, Alpha.”
The line went dead. Without a flicker of emotion, I pressed harder on the accelerator.
To me, Ivy’s life meant nothing.
Had Lianne not insisted on following proper legal procedure, Ivy would never have survived this long.
Everything I’d done, from beginning to end, had always been for Lianne.
Now, the only thing left for me to learn was how to disappear from her life completely.
Lianne’s POV:
Three days after I officially handed over all my project materials, the company’s newly appointed director arrived to take my place.
His name was Damien Hinchcliffe. Golden curls framed his sharply sculpted face, and his commanding presence exuded quiet confidence. Every movement radiated the calm authority that came only with years of leadership.
Alex immediately waved me over with a bright grin. “Lianne, meet Damien. Headquarters spent a fortune recruiting him.” He then turned toward Damien with obvious pride. “Damien, this is Lianne. She’s a powerhouse.”
Lianne’s POV:
I offered Damien a polite smile as I reached out to shake his hand. His palm was broad and warm, but I withdrew mine after the briefest touch.
“Nice to meet you, Damien. I’ve already organized all the project documentation. If anything isn’t clear during the transition, you’re welcome to ask me,” I said with professional courtesy, keeping my tone friendly yet unmistakably reserved.
“Likewise, Lianne.” His deep, resonant voice carried an effortless charm. The interest in his eyes wasn’t subtle. It was the kind of attentive scrutiny that made me feel like I was being carefully assessed.
He pulled out his phone and stepped a little closer. “Then let’s exchange numbers. It’ll make coordinating the handover much easier.”
A wave of resistance rose inside me.
