Chapter 741:
My fingers tightened around the steering wheel as I answered in a calm voice, “Whether I win or lose, I won’t file an appeal.”
For years, I had poured everything into seeking justice for my father. I had exhausted myself, used every connection I could find, and even given up the man I loved along the way. But deep down, I had always known how slim my chances were against the powerful Voss family.
The only reason I had kept fighting until now was to give my father an answer, to let him know that I had never forgotten the injustice he had endured.
“And I know that no matter how this ends, my father won’t blame me.” My nose stung as tears welled up in my eyes. “He loved me more than anything. He would never want to see me destroying myself like this.”

Hearing the weariness in my voice, Tracy gently placed her hand over mine. Her eyes glistened as she fought back tears. “Then no more appeals. Lianne, whatever happens, I’ll be by your side. Once it’s over, let’s move somewhere no one knows us and start over.”
In the past, whenever Tracy promised to stand by me no matter what, I would simply smile and dismiss it as the heartfelt words of a loyal friend. This time, though, my hands tightened around the steering wheel. I turned to look at her, meeting her eyes with unwavering determination, and asked carefully, “Tracy, do you really mean that? No matter what decision I make, you’ll stand by me?”
She looked surprised, clearly not expecting me to take her words so seriously. But she nodded immediately. “Of course, Lianne. Even if you decide to burn down the Thorn Pack’s headquarters, I’ll be right there handing you the torch.”
A soft laugh escaped my lips, and for the first time in a while, I felt a small sense of peace. Her promise made me realize that whatever happened next, I wouldn’t have to face it completely alone.
When we reached the examination room, I stepped aside and let Jeremy take my place. He had followed us all the way here, after all. I understood his feelings all too well. No parent wanted to miss even a single moment of their child’s life. Once that chance was gone, it became a regret that could never truly be erased.
Afterward, I left the hospital alone and stepped into the bright afternoon sunlight.
I lifted my head to the endless blue sky, watching a few white clouds drift lazily, free to go wherever they pleased.
At that moment, an intense desire to run away rose inside me.
Lately, both my wolf and I had been pushed to the edge by the crushing pressure around us. I could feel Anna crying out from within, desperate to break free. We both longed for open grasslands and endless forests. We wanted to leave behind this city of steel and concrete, to escape the hatred, the endless schemes, and the man who still held my heart.
