Chapter 764:
Inside the conference room in Nshire, the senior executives sat upright in their seats, taking turns presenting their reports, their voices carrying clearly through the spacious hall.
The moment my phone lit up with a notification about the court’s verdict, I pushed back my chair and rose to my feet. “Let’s take a break.”
Ignoring the surprised looks from everyone in the room, I walked out and immediately called Philip. “So this is what you call justice?”
I stood before the floor-to-ceiling window, watching dark clouds swirl across the sky, my voice as cold as ice.

I didn’t need proof to know Ivy’s sudden change of testimony was the Thorn Pack’s doing.
“Ethan, calm down,” Philip said, trying to reason with me. “Ivy changed her mind and took all the responsibility. Do you really want Rola to receive a severe sentence? She’s your grandmother. She raised you.”
“You and I both know the truth.” I laughed bitterly, struggling to keep my anger under control.
Rola was far from innocent. She was the one who had taken Lianne’s father’s life, her hands stained with his blood.
“Enough.” Philip sighed, still trying to persuade me. “I know Lianne. She’s stubborn and won’t back down. If you can talk to her and convince her not to appeal, we promise we’ll never interfere in your relationship with her again.”
I stood there in silence for a long while, my tired reflection staring back at me through the glass. At last, I muttered, “We’re no longer together. But remember this: appealing the verdict is her legal right. I won’t try to stop her, and don’t even think about using me to pressure her.”
After ending the call, I headed straight home.
I quietly walked into the children’s room and looked at Ruby and Silas, sleeping peacefully. My heart filled with warmth, mixed with a worry I couldn’t shake.
The truth was, I still couldn’t let Lianne go.
I walked out of the room and dialed Noah’s number. “Book the tickets. We’re going back. I…”
Before I could finish, an unfamiliar number flashed across my phone’s screen, interrupting my conversation with Noah.
The moment I answered, a familiar voice came through the line. “It’s me, Lianne.”
My brows drew together at once. My first instinct was that she’d gotten drunk again.
The Lianne I knew was too proud to call me while sober. Only after alcohol blurred her judgment and lowered her guard would she borrow someone else’s phone to call me.
But this time, her voice was steady and clear, every word calm and precise, without the slightest hint that she’d been drinking.
“Ethan, I want to see Ruby and Silas. Could you make a few videos for me?” she murmured.
“They’re still asleep,” I replied, tightening my grip on the phone. I slowed my breathing, listening carefully for any trace of emotion in her voice. “Lianne, are you…”
