Chapter 802:
She slumped back into the chair, coughing violently as she struggled to catch her breath. After a while, she regained her composure and let out a bitter laugh. “You won’t kill me. With Lianne’s condition, I’m the only one who can neutralize the poison in her body. If something happens to her, you’ll regret it for the rest of your life. Right now, I’m your only hope.”
I looked at her without a trace of warmth.
I knew exactly what kind of woman she was. Whatever antidote she claimed to have would never come without a price, and she would never fully cure Lianne.
“Tell me what you want,” I said in a low, cold voice, every word coming out through clenched teeth.
Melisa no longer bothered pretending to be pitiful. She rose to her feet slowly and met my gaze with eyes full of ambition.
“I want you to accept the elders’ proposal.” A faint smile touched her lips. “I’ll hand over the antidote in exchange for just one thing. Marry me and make me the rightful Luna of the Thorn Pack.”
“Marry you?” I let out a cold, mocking laugh. The demand was so ridiculous it was almost amusing. With clear disgust, I said, “Melisa, you’ve greatly overestimated your worth.”

I took another step toward her and added in a cutting tone, “I can clear your family’s debts and give them more money than they could ever spend in their lives. I can free you completely from their control. Just give me the complete antidote and get out of my sight.”
Melisa gave a low, unsettling laugh, looking almost unhinged. “Ethan, do you really think money is all I want? In this world, power and status mean everything. Money alone offers nothing but temporary protection. Only by becoming the Luna of the Thorn Pack can I truly break free from my greedy family and finally control my own fate.”
“You’re asking to die,” I said through gritted teeth, my fists clenched so hard my knuckles cracked.
“You can kill me if you want.” She met my eyes without the slightest trace of fear. “But my life is tied to Lianne’s. I created this poison, and no one else can create its antidote. Are you really willing to take that chance? Will you risk the life of the woman you love, just to kill me?”
Ethan’s POV
My chest tightened with a sudden intake of air.
Melisa had uncovered the one vulnerability that could destroy me: Lianne’s life.
My devotion to Lianne had become the weapon Melisa wielded against me, cutting straight into the weakest part of me without mercy.
At that moment, Noah stepped inside with a polished silver case. He opened it and lifted out a small vial filled with a dark, sapphire-colored solution.
“The cure is here.” A smug smile spread across Melisa’s face as she admired the vial. “It’ll only suppress the poison for one month. Every dose after that must be adjusted based on how her condition changes. Ethan, thirty days should give you plenty of time to decide whether you’re ready to accept me as your mate.”
My fingers tightened around the chilled medicine container until my knuckles ached. Fury churned inside me, yet I stood powerless to change anything.
Being cornered so completely, with no escape in sight, was enough to push me to the edge of insanity.
