Chapter 805:
I caught the edge of his shirt, unable to hide my excitement. “Ethan, the dizziness is completely gone. I haven’t felt it for hours. I really do feel better.”
Looking into the warmth of his eyes filled me with emotions I could barely contain.
Seeing the way Jeremy never left Tracy’s side had reminded me so much of Ethan.
I had been unbelievably selfish. I’d locked myself behind walls, pushed him away again and again, and never stopped to consider how much suffering I’d caused the man who refused to give up on me, no matter how many times I rejected him.
“I’m sorry, Ethan,” I whispered, my voice quivering as tears filled my eyes once more. “I want to stop being so stubborn. I don’t want to keep hurting you anymore.”
He blinked in surprise, then smiled at himself with quiet resignation. Pulling me into his embrace, he spoke softly beside my ear. “As long as you come back to me, every hardship, every moment I spend waiting, is worth it.”
I parted my lips, finally ready to tell him I’d decided to give us another chance. Before a single word could leave my mouth, Noah’s name flashed across Ethan’s phone as it began to ring.
Lianne’s POV
Noah’s voice carried clearly from Ethan’s phone, filling the otherwise silent bedroom. “Alpha, Melisa refuses to back down. She says… if you don’t come tonight, you’ll regret it.”
My pulse faltered.
Melisa had no one she could lean on in this place, and she had once saved Ethan’s life. Whether judged by gratitude or simple decency, he couldn’t simply ignore her.

“You should go,” I told him without hesitation. I didn’t want him to become the kind of man who forgot those who had once helped him.
But after he ended the call and immediately got ready to leave, a strange heaviness settled inside me.
The uncertainty in Noah’s voice, combined with Melisa’s late-night demand, carried something difficult to explain. Hidden beneath the threat was a hint of possessiveness, almost like a challenge.
I quickly forced those thoughts away.
Ethan had never hidden anything from me. He’d answered Noah’s call right in front of me without the slightest attempt at secrecy. I had no reason to doubt him.
I couldn’t let my own fears and overthinking wound the man who had loved me so wholeheartedly.
Even so, as I watched him disappear into the darkness beyond the doorway, an ache spread through my chest.
Ethan’s POV
The night air was bitterly cold, its icy gusts slicing across my skin.
Melisa waited outside on the front steps, dressed in a thin silk nightgown, moonlight stretching her shadow across the ground.
When my car pulled to a halt, she wasn’t surprised to see me. Instead, satisfaction lingered in her expression, as though my arrival had been guaranteed from the start.
I climbed out, every step weighed down by the anger still burning inside me, and walked straight toward her.
“Let’s skip the games,” I said flatly. “What do you want in exchange for the complete antidote?”
