Chapter 827:
His gaze stayed locked on mine. The next second, he pulled me fiercely into his arms. His lips crashed against mine in a desperate, consuming kiss, as though he were drawing every ounce of strength he needed from me before walking into the storm ahead.
By the time I watched him leave, night had fully settled over the sky.
Long after his car disappeared into the darkness, I remained standing on the front steps, my eyes fixed on the empty road.
Ethan’s POV
The hospital corridors reeked of harsh disinfectant.
When I reached the emergency room, Philip was pacing outside with obvious anxiety, his usually composed face dark with tension.
The moment he spotted me, he didn’t ask how I’d been. Instead, he greeted me with the same familiar accusations.
“You’re finally here,” he sneered. “I figured that woman had wrapped you around her finger so completely you wouldn’t even care whether your own grandmother lived or died anymore. What happened? Why did she suddenly give you permission to come here?”
I stopped three steps away from him. Without holding anything back, I released the full weight of my Alpha aura. The crushing pressure forced him to stagger backward.

“Watch your filthy mouth.” I met his eyes, my voice as cold and relentless as ice beneath a frozen sea. “The only reason I’m standing here today is that Lianne convinced me to come. If it weren’t for her generosity, did you really think your pathetic tricks could have brought me back?”
Philip stared at me, his face twisting with fury as he jabbed a finger in my direction. “You ungrateful brat! After everything Rola did raising you, you’re turning your back on her for some outsider? Ethan, don’t forget you’re part of the Voss family! That cheap woman isn’t worthy of you!”
I shifted my gaze to the glowing red emergency light above the operating room doors. Oddly enough, I felt remarkably calm.
“I’ve never denied what Rola did in raising me.” I looked back at him, my eyes hard as steel. “That’s why I came. But listen carefully, Philip. As long as you keep targeting Lianne, there will never be peace between me and this family. Lianne is my bottom line. The moment you cross it, you’ll pay the price.”
“You’ve completely lost your mind!” Philip barked, with a scornful laugh. “For a woman with no prestigious family, one who even hates us, you’re willing to throw away an Alpha’s pride? Countless outstanding women would gladly stand beside you, yet you insist on clinging to a piece of trash. What spell has she cast on you?”
“It doesn’t matter how many women exist in this world.”
I stepped closer until we were face-to-face, absolute certainty ringing through every word. “I will only ever choose Lianne. She is the mate the Moon Goddess chose for me, the one whose soul is forever bound to mine. Are you saying you intend to defy the Moon Goddess herself?”
Philip’s voice died in his throat. His face flushed in a matter of seconds.
Among werewolves, a fated mate was sacred.
No matter how arrogant he was, he didn’t dare openly question the Moon Goddess’s will.
