Chapter 883:
I let out a sigh of relief. “I’m glad to hear that.”
Frank fell silent for a moment. He dropped his gaze and muttered, “Lianne, about what happened with my mom that day… I’m really sorry. She acted on impulse. Please let me apologize to you on her behalf.”
I immediately shook my head. “Please don’t apologize. I understand exactly why Lucy reacted that way. If I had been in her position, I probably would have lost my temper too. I don’t blame her at all.”
Frank lifted his eyes to meet mine. They were filled with both guilt and gratitude.
Just as the atmosphere was beginning to soften, Jeremy suddenly spoke from the corner. His voice was calm but blunt. “Now that we’re talking about it, the slap Lucy gave Lianne in the hallway that day was very loud. I heard it even from far away, and everyone in the corridor stopped to watch.”
The room instantly fell into a tense silence. Tracy shot Jeremy a sharp glare and whispered through clenched teeth, “Jeremy! Shut up!”
The color immediately drained from Frank’s face, and the guilt in his eyes became even more obvious. He lowered his head. His voice was rough as he sighed, “I’m sorry, Lianne… You went through all of that because of me.”

I was so uncomfortable that I wished I could disappear into the floor. I quickly waved my hands, trying to ease the awkward atmosphere. “It’s really okay. It wasn’t a big deal. Lucy was only worried about you. I understand why she reacted that way.”
I shot Jeremy an annoyed glance, but he behaved as though nothing had happened. He calmly took another sip of his coffee, completely unfazed by the words he had just spoken.
I smiled helplessly and turned to Tracy. “Don’t be upset with Jeremy. He didn’t mean any harm.”
Tracy let out a quiet snort and threw Jeremy another glare before finally letting the matter go.
I didn’t want to stay in the room any longer, and I was desperate to escape the uncomfortable atmosphere. Just as I was about to come up with an excuse to leave, Frank suddenly broke the silence.
“I’ve decided to break up with Jane.”
Everyone in the room froze.
Tracy’s eyes widened in disbelief as she asked, “What did you say? You’re breaking up with her? Are you serious?”
Jeremy placed his coffee cup on the table with a frown. “Frank, don’t make a decision out of impulse. You’re hurt, and your emotions are all over the place right now. You might end up regretting this.”
Frank shook his head. His expression was calm, and the determination in his eyes never wavered. “I’m not acting on impulse. I’ve spent the last few days thinking it through. My heart is still tied to someone else, and I can’t force myself to love Jane. I don’t want to keep wasting her time.”
A faint ripple passed through my heart, but I simply lowered my gaze and stayed silent.
